Trying to stay cool while sleeping can be a challenge if you’re a hot and sweaty sleeper. Enter bamboo sheets. Bamboo fabric (which is technically lyocell, viscose or rayon, but more details on that later) is known for its silky smooth and lightweight feel. Plus, the best bamboo sheets help regulate your body temperature with its breathable and moisture-wicking properties and has a subtle cool-to-the-touch feel. My overall best pick is the organic Quince Bamboo Sheet Set since it checks all of these boxes to help you get your best night’s sleep.
The best bamboo sheets, like the ones from Nest Bedding, are soft, smooth and moisture-wicking.

Quince Organic Bamboo Viscose Sheet Set (Queen)
Material: 100% viscose from organic bamboo | Weave: Sateen | Mattress depth: 16 inches
Pros
Soft and smooth feel Affordable priceHypoallergenic
Cons
Some reviewers comment they wrinkle easily
Upgrade your sleep with the Quince Organic Bamboo Sheets, which are made with 100% viscose from bamboo. The viscose fabric is soft and breathable, providing comfort and temperature regulation throughout the night. The fabric has a sateen weave for a silky-smooth feel and it’s hypoallergenic, making them ideal for those who suffer from allergies or skin sensitivities. Plus, all of that comes with a price tag of just a little over $100 for a queen. The set comes in 11 colors and a full range of sizes, from twin to California king.
What the reviews say: One reviewer writes, “These Bamboo sheets are unbelievably soft and silky. I’ve got white ones and they wash beautifully in cold water and air dry.” Another reviewer states, “Like, buttery, satiny, soft. This is the first time I have ever purchased anything from Quince and it won’t be the last. These sheets were cooling and stayed that way all night.”
Amazon
Bedsure Bamboo Sheets (Queen)
Material: 100% rayon from bamboo | Weave: Twill | Mattress depth: 16 inches
Pros
AffordableDurableHelps regulate temperature
Cons
Doesn’t have the same sheen as sateen sheetsMay have a loose fit on thinner mattresses
The Bedsure sheet set is one of the most affordable 100% bamboo rayon sets available on Amazon that still provides a sheet that’s soft and doesn’t feel rough on the skin. The twill weave helps make this set more durable than others—just note that the robust weave doesn’t have the same sheen as sheets with a sateen weave. The bamboo rayon fabric used in this set is like others of the same material, in that it helps regulate temperature and wick away moisture so you can get a restful night’s sleep. The sheets have a silky and light feel, and with 22 colors to choose from there’s something for every bedroom design.
What the reviews say: These sheets have overwhelmingly positive reviews, with over 54,000 reviews giving them an average of a 4.5-star rating. “This sheet set is a dream. Not only is it super soft with a silky finish, but it also feels refreshingly cool to the touch—absolutely perfect for those warm summer nights,” writes one customer. “I absolutely love my Bedsure Queen Sheet Set. These sheets are incredibly soft and luxurious, thanks to the bamboo and the unique twill weave. They feel smoother than silk and stronger than cotton, giving me the best of both worlds,” says another shopper.
LUXOME
Luxome Luxury Sheet Set (Queen)
Material: 100% viscose from bamboo | Weave: Sateen | Mattress depth: 17 inches
Pros
Thicker feelSateen weave makes these feel buttery smoothDeep pockets
Cons
May not fit as tightly on thinner mattressesLighter colors may show stains
The Luxome Luxury Sheet Set is made with 100% viscose from bamboo and has a denser feel than many others on our list, in part thanks to its higher thread count. At 400, its thread count is among the greatest that retailers advertise—many companies don’t include thread counts for bamboo sheets, but this is relatively high, nonetheless. The fabric has a buttery smooth feel thanks to its sateen weave. The deep pockets fit mattresses up to 17 inches deep, so they easily accommodate most average bed heights, and even some taller ones. An added bonus? The sheet set is certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX.
What the reviews say: These sheets have an average rating of 4.6 from over 600 reviews. One shopper writes, “These sheets are so much better than what I was buying. They are heavier, beautiful colors, no problem with just putting them in the washing machine, and they feel luxurious. I love the set l purchased and am getting another set soon.” Another customer says, “I purchased these a couple months ago, and won’t sleep on cotton sheets again. They have held up to multiple washing and just get softer every time. These feel like they should be way more expensive, just the most luxurious sheets I’ve ever owned.”
Amazon
Hotel Sheets Direct 100% Bamboo Sheets (Queen)
Material: 100% viscose from bamboo | Weave: Twill | Mattress depth: 15 inches
Pros
Moisture-wickingOEKO-TEX certifiedLots of color options
Cons
Does not accommodate very thick mattressesTop sheet is on the shorter side
The bamboo viscose sheet set from Hotel Sheets Direct is one of the most popular sets available on Amazon. Not only is it moisture-wicking, but it doesn’t pill or shrink after washing, either, according to the brand. Amazon reviewers also back this claim up. You can expect the sheets to have a cool and crisp feel. The set is also OEKO-TEX certified, which demonstrates it was tested by a third party and found free of a number of harmful chemicals. The sheets are available in 17 beautiful colors, so you can find a style to suit your taste.
What the reviews say: “The material is not too light, and not too heavy, just right,” writes one reviewer. “I love these sheets, they are so soft and expensive looking, but priced very reasonably. The color is so rich-looking with no wrinkles, and the material does not ball up,” says another customer.
Cozy Earth
Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set (Queen)
Material: 100% viscose from bamboo | Weave: Not specified | Mattress depth: 20 inches
Pros
Deep pocketsSoft and smoothHelps regulate body temperature
Cons
ExpensiveWrinkles easily
If you have a thick mattress it can be hard to find sheets that are sufficiently deep, let alone an option made with bamboo. These Cozy Earth sheets have an oversized pocket that fits mattresses up to 20 inches deep. They are made from 100% viscose from bamboo, so they help regulate body temperature and still provide a cozy night’s sleep. I slept on these sheets and found them soft and smooth. Reviewers on Cozy Earth’s website describe them as “sleeping on a cloud,” and I think anyone who is looking for a soft texture and dreamy night should find it with these.
What the reviews say: Out of over 7,000 reviews, 92% of them would recommend these. “The hype is real. The softest sheets we’ve ever owned—and we’ve tried a lot. Absolutely in love with these sheets. Worth the investment,” says one enthusiastic customer. “These are incredibly soft, and light. I don’t wake up too warm anymore. They get softer with each wash I love them,” says another reviewer.
Cariloha
Cariloha Resort Percale Bamboo Bed Sheet Set (Queen)
Material: 100% viscose from bamboo | Weave: Percale | Mattress depth: 16 inches
Pros
Lightweight and airy feelCrisp yet softDoes not have a slippery feel like other bamboo sheets
Cons
May be a little oversized for mattress that’s 10 inches or shorter
Cariloha’s bamboo sheets stand out for their percale weave, which is not often advertised in bamboo sheets the way it is for cotton percale sheets. Just like cotton percale sheets, these bamboo sheets have a one-over, one-under weave, but they’re made with viscose from bamboo instead of cotton. The result is a soft sheet with slightly more structure than sateen bamboo sheets. The advantage of this combination is that they are more breathable and don’t drape as closely to your body as other types of sheets, which some may prefer.
When I slept in these sheets, I appreciated that they didn’t cling to my skin, which gets uncomfortable when my skin is damp, especially in warmer months. If you like percale sheets, but want something a little cozier, these are for you. They’re also good for those who want a soft bamboo sheet without a slick feel, and can appreciate the matte finish. One thing to note is that when I washed these, they felt extremely stiff when wet (which can happen with viscose), almost like thin cardboard, but after putting them in the dryer, they came out soft.
What the reviews say: These sheets garnered positive reviews, with one customer writing, “Wow, I love these sheets, I was already a fan of the regular bamboo sheets, so cool and soft. The percale sheets, have more structure, which I love.” Another reviewer says, “My husband and I agree that these are the best sheets ever. I like how cool they stay at night. My husband claims he is sleeping better. They feel so good. They are soft, high quality. We will never buy cotton sheets ever again.”
Nest Bedding
Nest Bedding Bamboo Luxury Sheet Sets (Queen)
Material: 100% rayon from bamboo | Weave: Not specified | Mattress depth: 15 inches
Pros
Pillowcases have envelope enclosuresHelps wick moistureAiry feel
Cons
Not available in split king sizeOnly accommodates mattresses up to 15 inches
Made with rayon from bamboo, this lustrous sheet set provides you with a silky luxurious feel while also helping to keep you cool. The sheet’s composition, like others on this list, works to wick away moisture throughout the night and lends the sheets an airy feel. The fitted sheet can accommodate mattresses up to 15 inches deep and the pillowcases have envelope closures, so your pillow doesn’t slip out during the night.
What the reviews say: These sheets earned rave reviews and 97% of people who ordered these sheets kept them. One reviewer writes, “I recently purchased bamboo sheets and overall, I’m quite impressed. They are incredibly soft, like sleeping on a cloud, and they effectively eliminate odors, which is a huge plus.” Another says, “We just love the luxuriously soft and cool feeling of the sheets and matching duvet cover set. We bought the blue and are amazed at the retention of color, when washed in warm water.”
ettitude
Ettitude Signature Sateen Sheet Set (Queen)
Material: 100% bamboo lyocell | Weave: Sateen | Mattress depth: 17 inches
Pros
Particularly eco-friendly designHypoallergenicOEKO-Tex Certified
Cons
Not available in split king size
The Ettitude Signature Bamboo Sheets are made with what the brand calls CleanBamboo— a 100% bamboo lyocell material that is well-known for being naturally cooling. The set has a silky-soft feel due to the sateen weave and is hypoallergenic, as it’s free from harmful chemicals, and like a few others on this list, is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Ettitude claims its sheet sets use 200 times less water to produce and generate 45% less CO2 than cotton options, making them a great choice for eco-conscious consumers. To top it off, they are available in a range of colors that flawlessly match any room, and come with a 60-night trial, so you can try them at home stress-free.
What the reviews say: These sheets have an average rating of 4.6 from over 4,400 reviews. “They’re the best sheets I’ve ever had. Such silky comfort and they did not skimp on the fabric, so easy to fit over the mattress and a very shareable top sheet,” says one reviewer. “I have never felt more of a perfect temperature at night. I worry I will be too cold and too warm but I am perfectly comfortable,” says another.
Sijo
Sijo Doz Organic Bamboo Sheet & Pillowcase Set (Queen)
Material: 100% bamboo viscose | Weave: Sateen | Mattress depth: 16 inches
Pros
Made from organic bambooOEKO-TEX certifiedUnder $100 for a queen size set
Cons
May feel too silky for some individualsWrinkles easily
Sijo’s Doz Bamboo Sheets are everything you could want in a bamboo sheet. They’re soft, smooth and help keep you from overheating. They are 100% viscose made from organic bamboo. It should be noted that even though the bamboo is organic, it’s turned into a semisynthetic viscose material, so it doesn’t retain the properties of the organic bamboo.
However, according to Sijo, the bamboo is sustainably sourced and holds an EcoCert Organic USA certification, which means it has passed a set of environmental and social requirements. It’s also OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning it’s free from many harmful chemicals. Plus, it comes with a price tag of under $100 for a queen-size set.
What the reviews say: Over 2,800 reviews gave these an average rating of 4.6 stars. One reviewer says, “These sheets are nice. Buttery smooth, keeps you cool, feels like silk but less “slippery”, and they feel high quality, I got the green shade and its stunning.” Another one writes, “I love these sheets. I have been buying bamboo sheets for years when I stumbled upon these, and I absolutely love them. They are super soft and have a cooling effect to them which is perfect for hot sleepers.”
Puffy
Puffy Signature Sheets Set (Queen)
Material: 100% Bamboo viscose | Weave: Sateen | Mattress depth: 15 inches
Pros
Elastic straps on corners so sheets won’t slip offLightweightSmooth feel with a hint of sheen
Cons
Won’t fit mattresses over 15 inchesOnly available in two colors
If you toss and turn, causing your fitted sheet to come off at night, then these Puffy Signature Sheets are a great option for you. The fitted sheet has elastic all around the edges and fits mattresses up to 15 inches tall. What really sets the fitted sheet apart from many others is the elastic straps that secure over the corners of the bed, which ensure the fitted sheet stays in place. The sheets are 100% bamboo viscose with a 300 thread count, which makes them light. They also have a sateen weave, so they feel smooth with a hint of sheen.
What the reviews say: These sheets had a nearly perfect 4.9 average score based on 511 reviews. “We love our sheets. They have such a nice feel to them, very soft and fresh feeling. Super silky and clean looking. They added an extra no slip feature on the fitted sheet which I think is genius. Plus, the top sheet is really big and gives you extra length if you need it,” says one customer. “I love these Puffy sheets so much that I purchased a second set. They are soft and silky. I used to sleep hot but these sheets really help keep me cool. I would gladly purchase a third set,” says another reviewer.

How I Chose The Best Bamboo Sheets
When choosing bamboo sheets, I sorted through dozens of sheet sets online. I looked at popular products and well-known brands. I also searched sites, like Amazon, that carry numerous options to make sure I was scoping the most popular vendors. To narrow the list down, I chose products that have high ratings and reviews, or sheets from brands that I’ve personally tried in the past and have proven to be reliable and consistent in my experience.
In making my final picks, I relied on my firsthand knowledge from testing and writing about dozens of sets of sheets previously, as well as my professional and educational background in textiles. I’ve worked in product development and quality assurance at a home textiles company and at Nike. Additionally, I have degrees in apparel and textile design and mechanical engineering.
What To Consider When Buying Bamboo Sheets
Material
Regardless of whether a fabric is viscose, rayon or lyocell from bamboo, keep in mind there are no actual bamboo fibers in the final product. This means the bamboo was used to make the fibers, but none of the original bamboo fibers or properties remain in the fabric.
Rayon and viscose versus lyocell: When it comes to fabrics made from bamboo, you typically see rayon, viscose and lyocell. The terms “rayon” and “viscose” are often used interchangeably. Lyocell is a type of rayon, but it’s processed differently so it can feel similar to viscose or rayon. But it’s better at breathability, wicking moisture and it’s generally thought to be softer.
Fiber blends: When researching sheets made from bamboo, we came across sets that were not 100% rayon, viscose or lyocell from bamboo and were blended with other such other fibers as microfiber or cotton. The advantage of these blends is you get the properties of both types of fibers. However, you also dial back the properties of viscose or lyocell bamboo and may run into issues such as pilling.
Sustainability
Bamboo plants grow fast and require less water than cotton, which has given it a reputation of being sustainable. However, when it comes to fabric like rayon or viscose made from bamboo, the bamboo fibers undergo intensive chemical treatments to be made into fabric. Lyocell is a more sustainable option than traditional rayon because it’s manufactured in a closed loop system which has a lower environmental impact.
Weave
Some manufacturers of bamboo sheets state the type of weave, though it is not as common as it is with cotton sheets. The weave can affect how the sheet feels, and the typical ones you see when it comes to bamboo sheets are sateen, percale and twill. Sateen weave bamboo sheets tend to feel slick and have a sheen. Twill and percale, on the other hand, can feel more structured than sateen.
Fit
Since bamboo sheets are silkier than some other types of sheets like cotton or linen, they tend to slip off the bed easier. Check to make sure you’re getting the correct size pocket depth for your mattress so your sheet isn’t slipping off your bed in the middle of the night. You also want to make sure the flat sheet has enough length to tuck in under the bed, especially if you have a thicker mattress, if that’s what you prefer.
Price
Bamboo sheets can get pricey, with some over $200 for a queen set. That may be worth the splurge for some people, but there are also good sets for less (like some of the ones on this list).
Return Policy
Consider the brand’s return policy before buying sheets and make sure you’re able to return them if they don’t work out for you. Some brands have a trial period during which you can try the sheets for a certain number of days and return them if you don’t like them. Also check to see if there’s a return shipping fee.
Thread Count
Like with other types of sheets, thread count is not the sole factor in quality. However, thread count does affect how the sheet feels. Most bamboo sheets range from 300 to 400 thread count. Extremely hot sleepers should look for sheets with a lower thread count, since those are lighter and more breathable. If you like a cozier sheet, then opt for a higher thread count.
Care
For most sheet sets it’s recommended to wash with cold water on delicate and tumble dry low. This is especially true of bamboo, as higher water temperatures can cause shrinking. However, at the end of the day, it’s always best to follow the manufacturer’s care label.
Is There Such A Thing As 100% Bamboo Sheets?
One thing to note about bamboo sheets is the final product is essentially rayon, with no traces of the natural bamboo fiber itself. You see bamboo sheets labeled as “rayon from bamboo” (or sometimes “viscose” or “lyocell from bamboo”), which is required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This is because, in general, bamboo undergoes an extensive manufacturing process to become a usable fiber, like what you find in bamboo sheets.
But there’s more to the story: Even after bamboo fibers are turned into rayon or lyocell, the way the fibers are ultimately processed and woven into a piece of fabric also factors in to how they look and feel. So although the process begins with the natural plant, the end product is really bamboo-derived rayon.
How Much Should Good Bamboo Sheets Cost?
The cost for a good set of bamboo sheets can vary depending on various factors such as thread count, quality of the fibers, weave, where the bamboo is sourced and more. You can find a good set starting around $50, while higher-end sets cost upwards of $300. The difference between the higher-end sets is that they may use a higher quality fiber, organic bamboo, thicker fabric or unique weave.
What Is The Ideal Thread Count for Bamboo Sheets?
The ideal thread count depends on your sleep temperature and preferences. Even though bamboo sheets have good breathability and moisture-wicking properties, hot sleepers should look for lower thread count sheet and those who prefer a heavier sheet should opt for a higher thread count.
How Can You Tell If Bamboo Sheets Are Quality?
Some considerations when choosing a quality bamboo sheet set include whether or not you want 100% pure bamboo rayon/viscose or lyocell, or if you want a blended fabric that incorporates cotton or microfiber, for example. A blend is often less expensive, but it won’t necessarily give all the benefits of pure bamboo sheets.
Another factor to consider is thread count. A higher thread count is often more durable in the long run, but a higher or lower thread also makes the sheet thicker and warmer, which hot sleepers may not prefer.
No matter the quality of the sheet, if the fitted sheet is too small, it can lead to the sheet popping off the bed. Consider your mattress’s depth, and make sure the sheets are thick enough to fit your current bed. Some mattresses, such as pillow tops, may require deep-pocket sheets to accommodate their height. Another handy feature to help the fitted sheet from coming off are extra elastic straps around the corners to keep them in place.
If it’s listed, pay attention to the type of weave as you shop for bamboo sheets. Weave can drastically change how a sheet feels, and knowing what to expect helps you make an informed decision. The most common weaves for bamboo sheets are twill and sateen. Percale bamboo sheets are also occasionally found. Sateen offers a smoother and softer feel, while twill is more durable but has a slightly rougher sensation. Percale offers a lighter, airier feel with a slightly more crisp texture than sateen or twill weave.
