Through the BMC app, citizens can send complaints about stray nuisances or request sterilisation or vaccination.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) veterinary department has launched a mobile application for complaints about stray dogs and cats. The app will address the rising complaints about dog bites, an increase in the dog population, stray nuisances, and suspected cases of rabies dogs, along with requests for vaccination and sterilisation of these animals.
The application, launched by the Veterinary Health Department, is automatic and you can file your complaint through it. The app also uses GPS and geofencing technology to record the exact location of the animals caught and released, keeping a record of animal health check-ups, sterilisation, and vaccination schedules.
Citizens can access the facility through the My BMC mobile app and the MCGM portal. They can also access the app by going to the municipal website. According to a Mumbai Live report, around 40 complaints have been received since the app was launched.
Meanwhile, BMC has also issued contact details for facilities regarding stray dogs and pets. These can range from grievance redress for issues related to stray dogs, sterilisation and vaccination programs, and the issuance of dog licensing certificates.

“A citizen can complain about dog bites, suspected rabid dogs, dog nuisance, an increase in the dog population, and even a request for sterilisation and vaccination. All one requires is to go and register their complaint by using the link on the MyBMC website,” a BMC veterinary department official told The Times of India.
Besides addressing the stray dog concerns, owners can also book slots on the BMC portal for the funeral of their pets. The civic crematorium in Malad has facilities for the cremation of small pets weighing less than 50 kg.
