Majid Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce
Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi revealed that the ministry will launch indicators for car dealerships starting next year, 2025.
This came in response to a question, during the Minister’s presence in the Shura Council today, about the existence of a monopoly in car dealerships.
Al-Qasabi pointed out that wrong practices have been monitored in the car market in the Kingdom and penalties have been issued regarding them, stressing that the regulations in the Kingdom prevent monopoly, Saudi Press Agency reported.
In response to a question about the initiatives that the Ministry is working on to protect basic commodities from unexpected rises, Al-Qasabi stressed that the Ministry is monitoring basic commodity prices on a daily basis, and ensures the availability of products through smart monitoring so that the stock is not exploited. He also indicated that the rise in prices has causes including global crises.
As for the exit of SMEs from the market, Al-Qasabi stated that the Ministry studied the reasons for the closure of SMEs in some cities and regions, and it became clear that the largest percentage of those SMEs closes during their first stages of the establishment, due to intense competition in these sectors, and a lack of innovation or taking into account the competitive advantage of cities and regions.
Al-Qasabi also stated that there is integrated work between 13 government agencies in the trade system to combat the commercial concealment, in which artificial intelligence is used to build the commercial concealment index, in addition to issuing a regulation to correct the conditions of violators of the anti-concealment law and developing an electronic system dedicated to reporting commercial concealment cases.
