In the fast-paced world of Cardano, progress never sleeps. The latest development update, which is now live on Essential Cardano, brings a wave of exciting advancements across various domains. From core technology to wallets and services, smart contracts, scaling, and governance, Cardano enthusiasts have much to celebrate.

Cardano Weekly Development Progress

The networking team spearheaded crucial enhancements in recent weeks. Notable among them is the implementation of a groundbreaking light peer-sharing feature.

This innovative addition allows new unregistered nodes to join the network, facilitating seamless peer sharing. However, it is important to note that this experimental feature remains disabled until the Genesis and Eclipse Evasion implementation is completed.

Meanwhile, the consensus team engaged in fruitful discussions with IOG researchers, focusing on the transition from Byron to TPraos eras during the rollout of Genesis. The team agreed that era checkpointing is unnecessary for the MVP (Minimum Viable Product).

Efforts are underway to assess the threat posed by historical short forks to Genesis. Collaboration with researchers aims to set a limit on how long an adversary can delay overall sync time.

Development-wise, the UTXO HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) feature took center stage. The team successfully integrated it with the latest ouroboros-consensus main branch and Cardano-node 8.1.1-pre.

Notably, a performance regression in the network component was discovered during UTXO-HD ad-hoc benchmarks for Cardano-node. The team is actively working on resolving this issue to ensure optimal performance.

Wallets and services also experienced significant updates. The Lace team added Brave support to Lace v.1.1.1 and continued their work on the new staking page for Lace browser UI components.

Additionally, Scaling initiatives saw notable progress as the Hydra team resolved issues with the Hydra head on the mainnet and began exploring future enhancements.

Meanwhile, the Mithril team completed the implementation of a new sub-command for restoring Mithril stake distribution and performed infrastructure enhancements on test Mithril networks.

Within the Voltaire governance framework, community engagement took center stage, with various workshops held worldwide to gather valuable feedback on CIP-1694 and CIP-95. These proposals aim to empower ADA holders with voting capabilities, ensuring a democratic and participatory governance system.

Lastly, the Catalyst team provided insights into the Fund10 budget parameters during a town hall and continued technical developments for the Catalyst platform, including compatibility testing, API development, and tool optimization.
