Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari announced plans for the development of a modern club on an eight-acre land along the Ring Road in east Nagpur. The project aims to provide a facility similar to top clubs in the city, such as Gondwana, for the residents of this area. Gadkari emphasized the need for cooperation from the locals for the successful execution of the project, a TOI report stated.
In addition, Gadkari revealed plans for the construction of an air-conditioned market in Pardi. The market will offer a range of shops selling fruits, vegetables, mutton, and food joints to cater to the needs of the local community. With an allocation of Rs 40 crore from NHAI, the project, which has an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore, aims to provide clean and hygienic surroundings for the enjoyment of food by all, including the underprivileged.
Speaking at the bhoomi puja of the new wholesale market for Kirana (grocery) traders at Chikli near Kalamna, Gadkari highlighted the state-of-the-art facilities that will be provided in the ₹350 crore project. The new market will relieve congestion in the crowded Itwari and Maskasath areas, thereby improving traffic flow. Similarly, the upcoming textile market near Geeta Mandir will contribute to the decongestion of traditional market areas.
Gadkari expressed his satisfaction with the development works carried out in the area, attributing the progress to BJP MLA Krishna Khopde and the support of the local community. He also acknowledged the transformation of East Nagpur, with the construction of four-lane roads passing through Mayo Hospital, Shahid Square, and Teen Nal Chowk, which were previously unimaginable.
However, Gadkari expressed disappointment with the slow progress of widening the Kelibagh Road in front of his house due to ongoing litigation.
Gadkari also praised the support received for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and the BJP in the elections held in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. He attributed the victory to PM Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, and the dedicated efforts of local party leaders and workers. Gadkari viewed the election results as a clear endorsement of the government’s policies and expressed optimism for rapid development under the new “double engine governments.”
