Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority investigated the causes of the electrical service outage in parts of the neighborhoods of Hattin, Al-Nakhil, Al-Aqiq and Al-Ghadeer in Riyadh on July 9. The authority said that the outage resulted from damaging a main electrical transmission line by one of the contractors working in a public project not affiliated with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
The regulatory procedures related to this matter are ongoing, the authority said in a statement on X platform.
This comes within the authority’s role to protect the rights of consumers, licensees and users of the public electrical network, with the aim of raising the efficiency of electrical service performance and maintaining its reliability.
According to data available on Argaam, the authority said, on July 9, that after restoring the service to all subscribers affected by the electrical service outage in a number of neighborhoods in north Riyadh, it began an investigation to determine the causes leading to the outage. In addition, the investigation aims to evaluate the service provider’s actions during the event, in accordance with its supervisory role in following up and monitoring the performance of electrical service providers.
