UPC y Fractus, a través de su deep tech hub, han lanzado este nuevo programa centrado en la transferencia de tecnologías de vanguardia en ámbitos estratégicos como la salud o las telecomunicaciones.

La Universidad Politécnica de Cataluya (UPC) y Fractus, compañía especializada en tecnología de antenas, han puesto en marcha un nuevo programa de transferencia tecnológica a través de su deep tech hub. El programa From lab to market se centra en la identificación y la transferencia de tecnologías de vanguardia. Al actuar como puente entre la investigación universitaria y las necesidades del mercado, este espacio se posiciona como una apuesta estratégica para la UPC en el proceso de transferencia de tecnologías innovadoras con alto potencial para generar valor social y económico.

El programa se ha iniciado recientemente con cuatro innovaciones desarrolladas como resultado de diferentes líneas de investigación llevadas a cabo por varios grupos de la universidad. Las innovaciones, según se ha dado ha conocer, han sido escogidas basándose en el grado de maduración y protección (vía patente). Además, cabe destacar que estas representan adelantos sustanciales en áreas críticas como la salud, las telecomunicaciones y el Internet de las cosas (IoT), entre otros sectores de relevancia.

Las innovaciones detectadas en el programa representan adelantos significativos en sus respectivos campos y tienen un potencial transformador en varios sectores industriales. Con cada nueva tecnología transferida, Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub ayuda a mejorar la competitividad industrial, aportar nuevos productos y servicios al público y fomentar el desarrollo económico.

Para Climent Molins, vicerrector de Transferencia, Innovación y Emprendimiento de la UPC, esta acción supone “un paso más en la actividad de la Universidad como agente activo: no solo facilita la transferencia tecnológica y de conocimiento, sino que lo hace una vez determinadas cuáles son las innovaciones que pueden ser más estratégicas, prioritarias o que tienen más demanda. Una característica que a la vez es un aliciente para aquellos grupos de investigación que perciban que su innovación puede estar próxima a tener impacto en determinados sectores del tejido productivo”.

Este programa posiciona el hub como especialista en transferencia de tecnología entre el mundo académico y empresarial, transformando las ideas en oportunidades. Se trata de un programa que irá incorporando de forma gradual nuevas innovaciones protegidas mediante patente. De momento, este incluye cuatro innovaciones desarrolladas por dos grupos de investigación de la UPC:

Sistema de evaluación de la salud cardiovascular a partir de dispositivos comunes

Se trata de un sistema fácil de usar y asequible que puede utilizar, por ejemplo, los sensores de fuerza de una báscula electrónica para evaluar parámetros fisiológicos relacionados con la salud cardíaca y vascular, incluida la elasticidad y la presión arteriales. Esta innovación, desarrollada por el grupo de investigación de Instrumentación, Sensores e interfaces (ISI) de la UPC, es capital para predecir riesgos cardiovasculares futuros.

Cardioarteriógrafo electrónico

El mismo grupo de investigación anterior (ISI) ha patentado un dispositivo y método innovador que permite mesurar varios parámetros cardiovasculares a partir de mediciones no supervisadas obtenidos fácilmente en las manos, los pies u otros elementos cotidianos. Es compatible y complementario con tecnologías existentes como por ejemplo los aparatos actuales de ECG y analizadores de impedancia corporal.

Mejora de la eficiencia de comunicación para 5G

Un método y un sistema innovador que mejora la eficiencia de comunicación a los mecanismos de handover de las redes 5G ha dado lugar a una patente del grupo Wireless Networks Group (WNG). Este consigue es reestructurar el envío de mensajes sin introducir un cambio profundo en los estándares de telefonía móvil, facilitando la operación entre redes de diferentes generaciones (5G y anteriores) y mejorando la calidad de transmisión y servicio.

Método de modulación de datos para la comunicación entre dispositivos Wi-Fi y dispositivos Yate

Esta innovación facilita la comunicación entre dispositivos Wi-Fi convencionales y dispositivos Yate no Wi-Fi mediante una actualización de software. La tecnología, desarrollada también por el grupo anterior (WNG), permite dar un nuevo uso de las funciones y señales de los transmisores Wi-Fi.
