The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has successfully airlifted 16,088 Nigerian Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.
The Economic Confidential reports that on the 9th day of the airlift, Maxair transported 6,830 pilgrims, Flynas, 6,794 pilgrims, and Airpeace, 2,464 pilgrims.
Nasarawa, Kogi and Oyo States have completed the airlift of their pilgrims, while Kebbi and Ogun states are close to finishing the airlift, with over 90% progress.
So far, 16,088 pilgrims have been transported to destinations in Madina and Jeddah through the 38 flights conducted.
While the NAHCON continues its efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims, PRNigeria provides further facts on the 9th Day of the airlift of Nigerian Muslim pilgrims so far for Hajj in Saudi Arabia;
1. Flights and Pilgrims:
– Total Flights: Thirty-eight flights were conducted.
– Total Pilgrims Airlifted: 16,088 pilgrims were transported.
– Destinations:
– Madinah: Thirty-three flights landed in Madinah, carrying 13,809 pilgrims.
– Jeddah: Five flights landed in Jeddah with 2,279 pilgrims.
2. Distribution in Holy Cities:
– Madina: So far, 8,506 Nigerian pilgrims have arrived in Madina.
– Makkah: A total of 7,582 pilgrims have reached Makkah.
3. Gender Breakdown:
– Males: 9,433 males have been successfully airlifted.
– Females: 6,655 females have also been transported.
4. Airline Contributions:
– Maxair: Maxair has airlifted 6,830 pilgrims.
– Flynas: Flynas contributed by transporting 6,794 pilgrims.
– Airpeace: Airpeace facilitated the journey for 2,464 pilgrims.
5. States’ Progress:
– Completed Airlift:
– Nasarawa, Kogi, and Oyo states have completed the airlift of their pilgrims.
– Near Completion:
– Kebbi and Ogun states are close to completing the airlift, with over 90% progress.
