Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South in the National Assembly, has passed away at the age of 52. Known for his vibrant political career and his role as the CEO of Capital Oil, Ubah died in a hotel in London, United Kingdom, on a quiet Saturday.
With his 53rd birthday just around the corner on September 3, this news has left many in shock and mourning.
How it happened
Details surrounding Senator Ubah’s death remain sparse. He was in London at the time of his passing, a city far from the political arena and business ventures that he influenced back home.
Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, confirmed the news of his death, marking a significant loss for the Nigerian political landscape.
Senator Ubah’s journey was one of resilience. Just last year, he was re-elected into the 10th Senate under the banner of the Young People’s Party before defecting to the All Progressive Party.
He once escaped an assassination attempt
His political path wasn’t smooth; in September 2022, he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. Gunmen attacked his convoy in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State, as he was traveling to Nnewi.
The attack resulted in the tragic loss of at least five individuals, including two policemen. Ubah survived, thanks to the bulletproof vehicle he was in.
