There is a low turnout of voters as voting commences for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency bye-election in Taraba State.
Our correspondent, who is monitoring the election in Jalingo Local government area reports that election materials and electoral officers arrive at the pooling units very early.
At the Sabongari polling unit 014 Turaki Ward, only few voters were seeing undergoing voters accreditation.
James Igun, presiding officer at the Amazon Polling unit said that few prospective voters had turned out for the accreditation.
Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC Aminu Malle said that the turnout is not encouraging but is typical of off season election.
“We have done our best. We have campaigned and sensitise the people to come out. So far I can say the process is smooth. Most times, it is at night that things go wrong. We hope nothing changes at night” Malle said.
