Following the 60-hour chess marathon Tunde Onakoya inked for a Guinness World Record, another Nigeria has set out on a new quest. And this abounds with a lot of jeopardy.
A 31-year-old Ilerioluwa Babalobi has embarked on a nine-month Africa tour to make a record.
His adventure would take him across all 54 African countries. He is going by road and sea, jumping buses and sailing in boats, ships, or canoes.
By his estimate, the journey requires him to spend five days in each country.
He’s started from the Red Cross office in Lagos, and will be touching base in major tourist attractions on the go.
But it’s not all about the thrills of the perils for him. He said he wants to raise awareness for social interventions across the continent.
As for the world record: if he comes back home in one piece, Bablobi will become the first African to tour the continent without flying.
In his earlier adventures, he had toured all of the states in Nigeria, Ghana, and other African countries.
For a while now, Nigerians have been going overboard with the zeal to break the Guiness World Record.
It all started from Hilda Baci, a chef, and went on to the longest weeping, massaging, manicuring, and others.
