Matarat Holding, in cooperation with the National Privatization Center (NPC), announced the start of inviting bids from the private sector for the operation of Abha International Airport project in Asir region.
The project will be based on the public-private partnership system, under the build–operate–transfer model over a period of 30 years.
This came after obtaining the approval of the Supervisory Committee for Privatization in the Transportation Sector.
This is one of the privatization and partnership projects between the public and private sectors to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, as well as the National Aviation Strategy.
The center invited interested local or international investors and airport operation services providers to review the letter of interest on the NCP website. The bidding will end on Jan. 31.
In October 2023, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the general master plan for the new Abha International Airport, Argaam earlier reported.
The airport targets nearly 8 million and over 13 million passengers by 2030 and 2054, respectively.
