“She is my best friend like we are in the same office. Only two of us are at the customer care desk. We often work till late in the night. We are permanently on the same shift. We were hired the same day and we resume the same day and shift. On the first day we met, she was very friendly. She engaged me in a conversation after our first day in the office, from the office till I got down to my bus stop, and because of her talk I forgot my change with the bus conductor.
“On that first day, I got to know about 40% of her life history. I knew she had a boyfriend she loved so much – the guy had traveled abroad and was no longer calling her. The guy wanted her to move on. And she had not seen someone to replace him even though guys are asking her out; she has not seen the man her heart would accept.
“Since that moment we became very close. She is not my kind of woman. I like slim tall girls because I am not very tall. But she is tall and on the big side. She is also beautiful and intelligent. I don’t have feelings for her but I like her and like to be around her because she gave me positive vibes.
“She became my gist partner and my best friend. She knew everything about me; before I took any step I would tell her. Even when I made love to my girlfriend I would tell her. Of course, she knew my girlfriend. We talked about almost everything. When we were on night shifts, we slept in the office, and sometimes we flirt around and cozied up a little. I kiss and fondled her but we didn’t have sex; she didn’t allow me to get to that point and I respected her wish.
“Now, I noticed she was jealous whenever I talked about my girlfriend, but when I quarreled with my girlfriend she would be happy and wished we never made up. Just recently, she started coming to my house, we still played our normal crazy play, this time she allowed me to sleep with her. And in that moment she confessed that she had fallen in love with me.
“I preferred the way we are as best friends, and I don’t want to hurt my girlfriend. She has been suspecting us and this would confirm her suspicion about us. I love my girlfriend and don’t want to lose her and at the same time, I don’t want to lose my bestie. What should I do?”
Dear Tony, you see, at this point, no matter how you tried to be discreet things might blow up right in your face and you may end up losing both ladies. Remember, your bestie is a woman with emotions, and she might become uncontrollable and want you all for herself, and may want to do anything to achieve that. Since you said you don’t love your bestie, you need to be disciplined enough to draw a line and set boundaries between you and your bestie.
