Nicki Minaj fans are doing their best to make one of the tracks from her recent album Pink Friday 2 a hit. Her base–known collectively as Barbz–are buying her song “Big Difference” in large enough quantities that they may make a big difference in the charting future of the tune.
Currently, 12 different versions of “Big Difference” appear on iTunes’ ranking of the bestselling songs in the U.S. It’s not uncommon for musicians as famous as Minaj is to release several takes of a new single or popular album cut, giving their fans more to buy. That said, a dozen editions of one title is a lot–but clearly her followers are on board.
“Big Difference” appears highest at No. 3, as of Friday (March 15) morning. Minaj’s latest focus comes in behind two new entrants, which were just released a number of hours ago.
At present, Cardi B sits at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart. Her new single “Enough (Miami)” went right to the top spot after it was released at midnight EST.
Coming in behind Cardi is BTS singer V. The soloist dropped a new tune titled “Fri(end)s,” and it’s become a bestseller right away. In fact, four versions of that title appear inside the top 10 on iTunes, giving him control over the most spaces in the competitive region.
Minaj has many versions of “Big Difference” available as well, though it’s not entirely clear how all of them differ from one another. In some instances, fans will buy the same title from different editions of the same album, which is a workaround for some limits on some download stores regarding how many copies people can purchase–or how many will count toward the Billboard charts the following frame.
As of the timing of writing, eight versions of “Big Difference” appear inside the top 100 on the iTunes chart. Three of those are top 40 wins, though the order could change throughout the day. Several other takes on the cut land below the No. 100 mark, but they’re still selling.
“Big Difference” is not new, though the vigor that fans are showing for the song is. The track was included on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2, which dropped in December. The tune wasn’t spun off as a single, but it still managed to debut and peak at No. 73 on the Hot 100 the week the full-length opened at No. 1. All these purchases could make the title an even bigger hit on a number of rankings in several days.
