Nissan’s Australian and New Zealand operations have been hit by a cyber-attack.

The automotive giant Nissan’s Australian and New Zealand operations have been hit by a cyber attack.

The company said it was investigating the extent of the cyber attack and whether any personal information had been stolen.

Nissan said it had notified the Government Communications Security Bureau’s (GCSB) cyber security centre, and the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

“While the extent of the incident is still under investigation, Nissan encourages its customers to be vigilant across their accounts, including looking out for any unusual or scam activities,” Nissan said in a statement.

It said it was working to restore its systems as soon as possible, and would provide updates on its website.

Nissan said the issue did not affect its dealer network.

In a statement to RNZ, a spokesperson for the GCSB’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) confirmed the incident was reported but provided little additional detail.

They said incidents reported to the NCSC were treated confidentially.

“This helps to encourage organisations to engage with us when they have been subject to a cyber-security incident. It also helps to protect the integrity of any investigations,” the spokesperson said.
