Passenger traffic in Saudi airports rises 26% to 112M in 2023

The air traffic in the Kingdom in 2023 reached an unprecedented record number in terms of passengers, whose number reached about 112 million passengers through various airports in the Kingdom, with a growth rate of 26% year-on-year, and more than 8% compared to 2019, which confirms the recovery of the Kingdom’s air transport sector from the fallout of the COVID pandemic.

According to the air traffic performance report issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation today, the number of flights through the Kingdom’s airports in 2023 reached about 815,000 flights, an increase of 16% year-on-year.

The volume of air freight at Saudi airports in 2023 witnessed a growth of more than 7%, totaling about 918,000 tons, compared to 854,000 tons in 2022.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah accounted for 32% of the total flights through Saudi airports in 2023, followed by King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with 29%. The following table shows the distribution of flights to the Kingdom’s airports during the year 2023:
