Muslim World League secretary-general Md Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa has said that ‘peaceful coexistence of communities in India is unique’. “Unlike certain organisations, Indian institutions and leaders I met, talked about peace, tolerance and understanding than asserting their dominance,” Issa said at the Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi on Wednesday.

“The diversity of thought in India has impressed me a lot. My interactions with the religious leadership in India made me realise that we need to uphold human values and stand together. The world can benefit from India’s wisdom.” Al Issa had met the PM, foreign minister and NSA to discuss deradicalisation, among other issues.
“To prevent civilisational clash, we need to protect and guide next generation from childhood. To entrench power, many leaders have used hate narratives to ensure their own control and relevance. Misconceptions, hate theories and wrong perceptions have expedited road from radicalisation to terrorism. Religious leaders today are in silos and not working to promote understanding,” he claimed.
