Lil Wayne has announced an investment in the Austin-based pickleball team, the Texas Ranchers. Grammy award-winning artist will serve as a strategic advisor for the team, which boasts a collection of famous names among its owners, including No. 1 ranked men’s golfer and Texas alumnus Scottie Scheffler, country music artist Zach Bryan, Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons, Kendra Scott, and more.
Expressing his excitement about this new venture, Lil Wayne said, “Pickleball is the moment, and I’m excited to be part of the Texas Ranchers ownership group. I’ve enjoyed watching and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join this team of owners.”
Evan Floersch, Founder & CEO of the Ranchers, is equally thrilled to have Lil Wayne on board. This move aligns with the team’s branding strategy, which focuses on trending culture and recognition. Floersch stated, “From the get-go, we set out to build a team that, at its core, was centered in pop culture to support our mission to become one of the most recognized brands in American sports. The Texas Ranchers have also welcomed other notable individuals to their ownership group, including singer/rapper The Kid LAROI, sports commentator and former NFL athlete Emmanuel Acho, 8VC venture capital partner Alex Moore, and The Ruia Family, billionaire business tycoons who founded and own the Essar Group in India.
Founded in 2021 by Bryan Sheffield with an investment from tech banker Tim Klitch, the Ranchers are one of the founding groups of Major League Pickleball. They recently opened a set of eight rooftop courts in downtown Austin, making pickleball more accessible to locals and enhancing the sport’s popularity.
