PM Narendra Modi Special Parliament Session Highlights: Presence of women in parliament not significant before, but they contributed to both houses
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that as the new Parliament gets working from tomorrow, the old building will continue to inspire the upcoming generations. PM Modi said this while addressing the lower house of the parliament during the special parliament session.

“From the cash-for-votes scandal during the tenure of former PM Manmohan Singh to the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, this Parliament has witnessed it all:,” said PM Modi in Lok Sabha.

Here are the key highlights of the PM’s speech in Lok Sabha in Parliament Special Session:

Shifting to the new building

Bidding adieu to this Parliament building is an emotional momentAll of us are saying goodbye to this historic building. The decision to construct this building was taken by foreign rulers but we can never forget and can proudly say that the toil, the hard work and the money that went into the construction was that of my countrymenWe may go to the new parliament building, but the old building will inspire the next generationsFrom Nehru, Shastri to Vajpayee, many leaders have presented their vision of India in this ParliamentMany tears have been shed in the Parliament. Nehru, Shastri and Indira Gandhi lost their lives during their tenure. We bid them adieu with tears in our eyesToday as we leave this building, I would also like to remember some journalists who dedicated their lives to the ParliamentThere was a terror attack (on the Parliament). This was not an attack on a building. In a way, it was an attack on the mother of democracy, on our living soul.

Rembering Past Leaders

The echo of Pandit (Jawahlal) Nehru’s ‘at the stroke of midnight’ in this Parliament will continue to inspire us. This parliament where Atal Ji said ‘sarkaren ayyengi, jayengi; partiyan banegi, bigedgi; magar ye desh rahna chahiye’Babasaheb Ambedkar tried bringing world’s best practices to India, and India is today benefitting from it

G20 and Chandrayaan-3

The success of the G20 is of 140 crore Indians, it is the success of Bharat. It is not a success of an individual or a political partI once again congratulate our scientists and praise them (for the success of Chandrayaan-3)Many people have a tendency of being suspicious about India. This time too (referring to the G20), they were confident that there will be no declaration. However, it is India’s strength that it happenedIndia will be proud that when it was the president (of the G20), the African Union became its member.

Contribution of Women in Parliament

Initially, the presence of women in the parliament was not very significant, but with time our mothers and sisters have contributed a lot to both houses

The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners Appointment Bill is listed on the government’s agenda for Parliament’s special session starting September 18.

Three other bills listed on the agenda are Advocates (Amendment) Bill, Press and Registration of Perodicals Bill and Post Office Bill.
