Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid recently declared that God is definitely a woman.
He made this statement during an interview with Evening Standard UK.
Speaking ahead of his Tottenham Concert, Wizkid said, “To me, women are God on earth. God is definitely a woman, for sure. What’s more powerful than creating a life? My music is here to make women feel good from all cultures. It celebrates them. They’re valued.”
Giving reasons for his statement, Wizkid said he was “raised around strong women, so it means I cater more for women with my sound, you know? Being raised by women made me understand their full range of emotions. It is a beautiful thing.”
Wizkid says Nigerians don’t care about politics
Speaking further, the award-winning singer revealed why he avoids making remarks about political issues in the country.
He said, “I don’t like to speak about politicians in Nigeria. People in the streets care about themselves and what they are going to eat. They don’t give a f*ck about nothing else.”
The ‘Essence’ crooner noted that he is focused on making music as it is an escape amid political chaos.
Wizkid further affirmed his ambition to steer the new generation of Nigerian singers to make big moves in the music industry.
Wizkid’s interview comes a day after Nigerian rapper Phenom stirred emotions online by displaying the array of awards in the singer’s library.
Phenom shared clips of himself taking a tour around Wizkid’s Ikoyi Mansion. He hinted in the clip that he was looking for Wizkid’s Grammy award, but all he could find was an array of other numerous awards different from the Grammy.
He also added that the awards are a testament to the Afrobeat superstar’s consistency and dominance.
