Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports increased 20% year-on-year (YoY) to almost SAR 68.9 billion in July, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports also rose 7% month-on-month (MoM), or by about SAR 4.31 billion, as shown below:

Machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and parts thereof topped imports in July, representing 21% (or SAR 14.8 billion) of the total Saudi imports. Vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment accounted for 18%.

China topped the Kingdom’s list of exporting countries with SAR 13.9 billion, accounting for 20% of the total value of imports in July. The US and UAE followed, with SAR 6.01 billion and SAR 4.27 billion, respectively.
The top 10 exporters to Saudi Arabia accounted for almost 61%, or SAR 42.1 billion, of the Kingdom’s total imports in July, as shown below:
