‎Saudi trades in US equities fall to SAR 13.7B in Q3 2023

Saudi investors executed sell and buy transactions on US equities at a total value of SAR 13.7 billion through capital market institutions in Q3 2023, a year-on-year (YoY) fall of SAR 9.15 billion, or 40%.

Trading by Saudis in the American market during the quarter hit the lowest since Q4 2019, which was at SAR 13.6 billion.

Saudi trades in US stocks through capital market institutions recorded an 8% decline of SAR 1.14 billion from SAR 14.8 billion in Q2 2023, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) said in a report.

The CMA report on the trading value of local brokers in the global markets does not include either details of the number of Saudi portfolios abroad, the number of investors trading directly through foreign brokers or their trading volumes.

The transactions in the US market accounted for nearly 75.2% of total trading by Saudis in foreign markets, which stood at SAR 18.2 billion, the market regulator added.
