The new Baseus Spacemate docking station goes on sale today but I have already had a few weeks to check out this handy little office helper to see what it’s like. This multifunctional USB docking station has plenty of expansion options including a couple of HDMI outputs and two DisplayPorts for driving external monitors. The number of displays varies depending on the operating system you are using.
Alongside its display capabilities, the Baseus Spacemate docking station also has a USB-C and USB-A 10Gbps data ports on its front panel, while all the other expansion ports are located around the back out of sight.
At the rear of the Spacemate there is a second USB-C 10Gbps data port plus a USB-A 2.0 port for connecting slower peripherals like keyboards and mice, where speed isn’t so essential. Other connectivity options include a 100W PD pass-through port for fast charging a laptop or powering a smartphone, plus there’s a Gigabit Ethernet port and a 3.5mm AUX jack. The docking station doesn’t come with a power adapter so if you do want to use the PD option, you need to use your laptop’s power supply or an alternative energy source.
The front of the Baseus Spacemate Docking Station has an illuminated panel to show which ports are … [+] in use. On the top there’s a button that logs you out of your Mac or PC.

The Baseus Spacemate is a genuine space saver as it stands vertically on a desk and includes a magnetically detachable base that has a handy nano adhesive pad that stops the dock from slipping. The nano surface can easily be washed off and never loses its stickiness. I think it’s a clever feature because one of my biggest gripes about docking stations and hubs is how most of them slip all over a desktop whenever you try and plug in a USB drive or cable.
On the front of this innovative new dock is an LED digital display which monitors and shows the status of each port of interface. The ports light up when they are being used or accessed. The display outputs shown on the front panel can support three external screens at resolutions up 4K.
The PD 100W port on the Baseus Spacemate ensures sufficient power for any connected devices when connected to a suitable power supply. An unusual feature of the docking station is a special screen-lock button on its top. A single click on the button with a Windows PC (or a double click for macOS) will instantly log you out of your computer and lock your screen, protecting your sensitive data while you go to lunch or take a break.
If you don’t need the speed of Firewire, then the MST-compatible Baseus Spacemate 11-in-1 docking … [+] station is a handy desk mate.

Verdict: The Baseus Spacemate 11-in-1 is a handy and well-designed USB docking station offering USB-C and USB-A data ports with transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. The Spacemate also has an Ethernet Gigabit port, 3.5mm audio output, plus all those display outputs for driving external monitors. The only thing this dock lacks is SD/microSD slots for transferring data from cameras or audio devices. If you want a reasonably priced docking station and don’t need Firewire speeds, then the Baseus Spacemate 11-in-1 is a good choice.
Pricing & Availability: The Baseus Spacemate 11-in-1 Docking Station is available from today and costs $119.99 from Amazon. If you hurry you can grab a $10 discount for the launch event.
