Former President Donald Trump is Manhattan on Tuesday to attend the opening of the second E. Jean Carroll defamation trial to determine whether the ex-president will have shell out millions of dollars tied to Carroll’s allegations of sexual assault in the 1990s.

But Trump’s Truth Social account blasted out posts attacking Carroll while the two were sitting in the courtroom, the first time they’ve been in same room together in decades.

One post from the former president’s account this morning stated: “Can you believe I have to defend myself against this woman’s fake story?!”

The seconds-long video clip linked in the post shows Carroll being interviewed by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, where she makes comments regarding sexual assault that lack context and could be misconstrued by viewers.

Trump’s Truth Social account also blasted old tweets from 2010 and 2014 that Carroll posted to her Twitter account as part of his collection of posts that attempt to cast the former Elle magazine columnist in a negative light.

“Everything interesting on Twitter is about sex,” Carroll posted in January 2014 on the social media platform then known as Twitter, while a May 2010 post read: “Sex Tip I Learned From My Dog: When in heat, chase the male until he collapses with exhaustion … then jump him!”

Trump in May 2023 was found liable for the sexual abuse of Carroll after she accused him of raping her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan in 1996.

Trump flew to New York from Iowa after his decisive win in the Iowa Republican caucuses last night. The next contest is the key New Hampshire presidential primary next Tuesday.

The former president remains the overwhelming favorite to capture the GOP nomination despite his legal issues, including the current trial and the 91 criminal charges he faces.
