Diablo 4
Blizzard
While I have said a few times at this point that despite my dislike of Diablo 4’s initial endgame which carried through season 1, season 2 has fixed many, many things, and I had a great time with it taking my Druid to level 100, which was far faster than it used to be.
Well, if you’ve been thinking about jumping in, today would be the best time to do so, as leveling is about to get even faster for a brief period of time. At 1 PM ET today, Diablo’s “Mother’s Blessing” week begins. What that means is a 35% boost to both XP and gold.
That 35% XP boost stacks multiplicatively with 5% potion XP buffs and the up to 20% buff you can get through seasonal leveling. And on top of that, this joins the overall XP changes Blizzard made to Diablo leveling as of this season, which includes massively increased XP for things like Tree of Whispers caches and killing monsters inside Nightmare Dungeons. It was already about 40% faster to get to level 100 in season 2 compared to season 1, now add a 35% stacking XP bonus on top of that.
Even though it’s a limited time, I’d argue the next few days are a great place to use the bonus if you’re just starting out, because the old chestnut “the game doesn’t really start until the endgame” is pretty true for Diablo 4, and this should race you through those early levels to hit the paragon board and start gearing up for endgame in short order. You’ll probably be outleveling your own gear drops with how much of a boost this is.
I’m not starting a fully new character for this season with this boost after my Druid, but since this 35% bonus also applies to the Eternal realm, I think I’ll head back and take my forgotten level 97 Barbarian, level 86 Rogue and level 75 Necromancer to 100 during this time. That Necromancer was from season 1, and it should say something I got my Druid to 100 in less time than when I abandoned my Necromancer at 75, just plan tired from the slow grind.
It’s a good, fun season. There’s also a Christmas event coming on December 12, as with any good live service, and while the worst thing about Diablo 4 remains its microtransactions, at least those don’t directly impact gameplay, so it could be worse.
With how reactive Blizzard has been with changes to fix the game, I think Diablo 4 will likely live a long life. It may be time for you to jump on board, and I would say today, out of all days, is the best time to start, given these newly active bonuses.
