Welcome back to another week of savings! I know some of you are sporting a Shadow of the Erdtree hangover right now—because I’ve already served my time in those salt mines—so I’ll be brief. Today is all about securing the cheapest preorders from the most recent Nintendo Connect, and PS5 hardware is uncharacteristically reduced for EOFY purposes. Make a play for a ‘Station while you can, I guess?
In retro news, I’m celebrating the 27th birthday of my personal favourite moustache racer, Mario Kart 64. What sold me was its first-in-series 4P multi, and probably about a hundred hours spent doing “winner plays on” 150cc VS. Mode and Block Fort balloon battles at a mate’s house. When the surf was crap in Kiama, his place was basically a youth drop in centre—just a constant state of shoulder-to-shoulder competition. Some of the best gaming years of my life.

Toad’s about to get reamed by a blue shell and run over by a bus as he resets. Brutal, brutal game.

Dragon Age Deals
Thanks to the announce of Veilguard, it’s Dragon Age bargain season. I’d rather it be new Mass Effect season, but hey this’ll do. You’d be nuts not to score Dragon Age: Origins and 2 for $3.99 apiece. Inquisition for $4.99 is also insanely good value.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage
In my book, a more intimately told, pretty surprising return to classic AC form. Mirage’s back-to-basics approach is a successful first step in returning to the stealthy style that launched this series. 8/10, great.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights. 8/10, great.
