Adult Swim’s “Rick & Morty” has made headlines more for its behind-the-scenes dramas than its on-screen comedy in recent years, mostly tied to the dismissal of co-creator Justin Roiland.
Co-creator and showrunner Dan Harmon, who has a new season of the series premiering soon alongside his new shows “Strange Planet” and “Krapopolis,” has opened up in a feature piece in THR about what went down.
During the chat, the biggest reveal is that Harmon is considering a big screen adventure for “Rick and Morty” with Harmon saying he’s had a “serious conversation” with the executives at Warner Bros. about a potential feature.
The idea would reportedly follow the “South Park” plan, with the feature essentially being a ‘super episode’.
He also offered an update on the “Community” movie, indicating he and writer Andrew Guest still need to sit and work for a few days to finish the script. He’s committed to getting it good enough that they can shoot it as is, without rewrites.
The full piece also goes into his falling out with Roiland, the pair reportedly haven’t even spoken since 2019, and the various updates to that story in recent weeks. Head over to THR to read the full interview.
