A$AP Press’ Killers Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison

A$AP Press’ killers have been sentenced to 20 years in prison. According to Manhattanda.org, Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings have been sentenced for the killing of Pressie Taylor Jr., also known as A$AP Press. The pair shot Taylor in the back of his head in Harlem in 2016. As a result, Press suffered from a fatal seizure a year and a half later, leading to his death.

In February 2023, a New York State Supreme Court jury found Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings guilty of two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, one count of murder in the second degree, and one count of assault in the first degree.

District Attorney Bragg spoke about the two-decade sentence in an official press release. He asserted that Chester and Darius’ actions “deprived” Harlem and his family of a “promising star.”

“Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings shot and killed a young Harlemite with great ambitions, talent and a bright future,” Bragg expressed. “Although Pressie Taylor Jr. miraculously survived the shooting in its initial aftermath, his life was forever changed. He made a valiant attempt at resuming his life and music career, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the effects of his serious injuries, depriving his family and community of a promising star.

“Thanks to the jury’s careful review of the evidence, both defendants were found to be responsible for his murder, and I hope that the sentences imposed today bring the victim’s family some form of peace.”

May A$AP Press rest in peace. VIBE sends our deepest condolences to the Taylor family and all those affected by this loss.
