After her high-profile legal battle with Cardi B, YouTuber Tasha K faces yet another lawsuit, this time from Kevin Hart.
Comedian Kevin Hart is suing YouTuber Tasha K and a former assistant for extortion, according to documents obtained by The Wrap on Wednesday, December 27. The lawsuit follows the high-profile legal battle in which Tasha K, whose legal name is Latasha Kebe, has been embroiled with singer Cardi B since 2019.
According to the lawsuit, Kebe interviewed Kevin Hart’s former assistant, Miesha Shakes, in violation of the non-disclosure agreement Shakes signed with Hart, and made untrue allegations against him. Kebe then allegedly tried to extort money from Hart to prevent the interview from being released.
Hart’s company, Hartbeat Productions LLC, employed Shakes between August 2017 and October 2020. The lawsuit explains that during this time she was privy to confidential information about Hart, his company, and his personal life.
In November 2023, Kebe interviewed Shakes for her YouTube series, “Unwine with Tasha K,” in which Shakes disclosed an alleged affair Hart was engaged in, and claiming he had a gambling problem. Kebe posted a preview of the interview on her Tasha K Instagram account.
Soon thereafter, Hart says he was contacted by an individual claiming to be affiliated with Kebe, who asked for a “$250,000 ransom” to delay posting the interview. Hart contacted authorities and sent Kebe a cease and desist order.
Hart is suing Kebe, Shakes, and parties associated with them for civil extortion and invasion of privacy, as well as suing Shakes for breach of contract and defamation. He is also suing Kebe for intentional interference with contractual relations.
The lawsuit alleges that in addition to violating the NDA Shakes had signed, the interview “included false and defamatory statements regarding Hart and certain legal disputes in which he had been involved.”
Latasha Kebe’s collection of lawsuits from celebrities started in 2019 when Cardi B sued her for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. That lawsuit stemmed from multiple videos Kebe posted online and comments made on social media alleging Cardi B had contracted herpes, had a cocaine problem, and had worked as a prostitute. A federal jury awarded nearly $4 million in damages and legal costs, which Kebe has unsuccessfully appealed — despite filing bankruptcy.
