By modernising these crucial transportation hubs, the government aims to improve the overall travel experience and bolster connectivity across the country’s vast railway network.

The event, conducted virtually, spanning more than 2,000 railway stations and function sites, reflects the extensive reach and significance of the project. Alongside the station redevelopment, the inauguration of nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underbridges across various states will also take place during the event.

This dual focus on railway infrastructure and road connectivity underscores the government’s commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure comprehensively, with the goal of facilitating smoother travel experiences and fostering economic development across regions.

The inauguration of the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh marks a significant milestone in the modernisation efforts of railway infrastructure in the region. With an estimated expenditure of approximately Rs 385 crores, this project reflects a substantial investment aimed at enhancing the functionality, aesthetics, and overall passenger experience at the station.

The redesigned Gomti Nagar station is equipped to handle future passenger footfall by incorporating segregated arrival and departure facilities, central air-conditioning, modern amenities, and ample parking space across upper and lower basements.

By inaugurating the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station, the government seeks to demonstrate its dedication to infrastructure development and its vision for a more efficient and interconnected railway network. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to revitalise India’s transportation sector, with a focus on improving efficiency, safety, and passenger satisfaction.

Moreover, the Amrit Bharat scheme is poised to redevelop railway stations across 27 states and Union Territories, with a budget exceeding Rs 19,000 crores. The redevelopment will prioritise environmental sustainability and accessibility for differently-abled individuals.

Prime Minister Modi will oversee the foundation stone laying, inauguration, and dedication of 1,500 overbridges and underpasses in 24 states and Union Territories. These projects, totaling approximately Rs 21,520 crores, aim to ease congestion, enhance safety, connectivity, and improve rail travel capacity and efficiency.
