Amy Schumer has seen the internet’s thoughts on her recent Nicole Kidman joke, and she just wants to know, “You guys good?”
The Trainwreck star took time to both clarify and call out critics after posting (and later deleting) a joke at Kidman’s expense earlier this week that led to some criticism.
In a post on her Instagram Friday, the comedian shared a screengrab of her Notes app, which read, “Okay so the joke I was making was the way she was posed didn’t seem like how a human sits. I was not making fun of how she looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actors of all time.”
On Monday, Schumer received some backlash after she commented on a photo of Kidman in a somewhat unnatural pose seated at the U.S. Open, writing, “This how human sit.” Some fans accused Schumer of “cyberbullying” the Oscar winner with the post.

After deleting the initial joke, Schumer followed it up with a sarcastic apology — which was also later deleted — referencing Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ decision to support Danny Masterson with character letters ahead of his Sep. 7 sentencing for the rape of two women. “I want to apologize to all the people I hurt posting a photo of Nicole Kidman and alluding to her being an alien,” Schumer wrote to her followers in that deleted Instagram post. “I will be asking the cast of That ’70s Show to write letters advocating for my forgiveness.”
In the caption of her Instagram post on Friday, Schumer further elaborated on the joke and called out some of the cyberbullying she’s received as a result. “I hope everyone is okay and takes a deep breath including all of the think pieces written on this. You guys good?” Schumer wrote. “To all of the people who commented on me. I’m so sorry I’m not prettier. Please forgive me. I apologize. It wasn’t even a slow news day. North Korea and Russia are getting too close for comfort. There are deadly storms sweeping our world and a man was convicted of rape. But what got your goat was me saying that Nicole kidmans pose was not human like.”
She concluded, “Breathe y’all. To the people who write hateful things below I forgive you as a mother, a woman and most importantly as someone who also likes hot goss. Have a good weekend.”
