Anyone But You: Everything to Know About the Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell Rom-Com

Anyone But You may have already had the best press tour outside of the Barbie movie. The so-called rom-com has been on our tongues since stars Sydney Sweeney and Glenn Powell sparked infidelity rumors while filming in Australia over the summer.

For those who don’t remember—this year has been rife with celebrity breakups and cheating allegations, after all—Powell and Sweeney’s undeniable chemistry caused quite the commotion, thanks to some steamy on-set photos, press appearances, and one particular flirty behind-the-scenes video that went viral on Twitter. Rumors were only exacerbated by the fact that Powell’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, unfollowed the Euphoria star on Instagram before seemingly confirming her split from the Top Gun actor in late April. Meanwhile, Sweeney and fiancée Jonathan Davino were suddenly at the center of a wave of breakup speculation.

Now, with the release of new trailers and information about the upcoming film, it appears all the drama could not have been a better advertisement for the film, which may not be the simple enemies-to-lovers romp many of us were expecting. Here’s everything we know about Anyone But You.

When will Anyone But You be released?

As of right now, the R-rated film will be released in theaters on December 22, 2023.

Who’s involved?

Obviously, Powell and Sweeney are the stars of the film, but Sweeney also served as an executive producer. Easy A’s Will Gluck directed the film and worked on the script with writer Ilana Wolpert.

Other cast members include Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths.

What is Anyone But You about?

Not much was known about the rom-com when it was first announced in January 2023, but the title very much implies an enemies-to-lovers vibe. “Just know the movie is going to be so much fun. It is so funny. And it gives love, it gives humor, it gives sex,” Sweeney told Entertainment Tonight in March. “It gives all the great things that make a movie. And we want to bring back the good ol’ rom-coms with Will Gluck, and we’re having a great time doing it.”
