Apple TV+
Apple is set to raise the price of its Apple TV+ service considerably – the resulting change effectively doubles the cost of the service’s launch price.
The Apple TV+ launched at $4.99 per month and then last year saw its prices raised to $6.99. Now, the monthly fee will jump to $9.99 whilst the annual fee jumps from $69 to $99. Accordingly, Apple is also raising the price of its Apple One bundle.
Apple is hardly the first of these services to adjust their prices this year. Netflix upped its prices earlier this month whilst Peacock, Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+, Discovery+ and Max all adjusted their prices this year. Apple says in a statement:
“We are focused on delivering the best experiences possible for our customers by consistently adding high-quality entertainment, content, and innovative features to our services.
Since launching four years ago, Apple TV+ has made history for streaming services by crossing major milestones in a short span of time, thanks to its extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment.”
One area where Apple differs is that it does not have an ad-supported tier and it’s not clear if one is coming. Other services that do have them have generally left that tier’s pricing alone.
