Michelle Chen (陳妍希) and her husband Chen Xiao (陳曉) met while filming The Return of the Condor Heroes in 2014. They got married in 2016 and welcomed their son shortly afterward. With Michelle scaling back her work, many thought the couple was happily married but rumors of marital discord have been spreading. Their eighth wedding anniversary is in July but it is said Chen Xiao had filed for divorce at the end of last year.
A source disclosed Chen Xiao has moved out from their home and even changed his phone number so Michelle could not reach him. She has only been able to reach him through work associates.

In the past Michelle would bring their son to visit Chen Xiao while he was filming, but she did not do so for his latest drama. It is said they have already deleted all posts related to each other.
