Soaring on the success of his pairing with Bai Lu (白鹿) in Only for Love , Dylan Wang (王鶴棣) was rumored to team up with Rosy Zhao Lusi (趙露思) for upcoming historical fantasy idol drama Offering Salted Fish to Master in February. However, with filming starting in second half of November, and Rosy recently confirming her pairing with Liu Yuning (劉宇寧) for The Legend of Jewelry , it was apparent that fans were in for a disappointment – the drama’s leads are now settled as Arthur Chen Feiyu (陳飛宇) and Wang Yinglu (王影璐)!
Fans Unenthusiastic About Arthur’s Co-Star?
Arthur’s career was on the rise on the back of his onscreen pairing with Zhang Jingyi (張婧儀) in hit romance drama Lighter and Princess when leaked bed photos of the actor with a married influencer threatened to thwart his career, even though she later clarified her divorced status. Arthur’s image took a severe hit and he was even nicknamed “Kris Wu (吳亦凡) 2.0” by netizens. After lying low for months, he has chosen to make his comeback with Offering Salted Fish to Master.
The novel from which it is adapted already has a large fan base, increasing its odds of popular success, while Arthur has also proven his strong command of the arrogant male archetype of few words with his well-received portrayal of Li Xun, and the male lead in Offering has similar traits.
While Arthur has at least been deemed a good fit for the role, netizens have been less enthusiastic about 23-year-old actress Wang Yinglu, who is relatively unknown despite having starred in aspirational drama The Heart of Genius .
