“Asia Super Young” Boy Group Debuts

“Asia Super Young” Boy Group Debuts

After months of competition, reality survival show Asia Super Young wrapped with its finals held in Macau, where performer and Korean superstar Rain announced the results! Popular contestant Ollie (奧利) clinched the top contestant position, followed by Jerry Li (李權哲), Archie Sin (冼靖峰), Andrew Kong (江信熹), Liang Shiyu (梁詩煜), Albin Bai (白子奕), Sean Wen (文佐匡), Hugo Wong (黃奕斌) and Felix Chen (陳梁).

Runner-up Jerry Li also won the “Asia Super Cool” popularity award with the most number of votes, in the joint production between TVB and Youku.

Revealing the name of the newly formed boy group, TVB General Manager Eric Tsang (曾志偉) shared, “’Asia Super Young’ has finally formed a boy group! Congratulations to the nine members, I hereby announce a special name for your debut, you shall be called “LOONG 9””.

Expressing his hopes for the boy group to retain their passion and drive, the 70-year-old said, “Born in the dragon year, I hope the dragon becomes your symbol and hope you will be the pride of Asia,” He put out word that season 2 of Asia Super Young is already accepting registrations.

However, netizens are not as optimistic, pointing out how TVB’s previous boy group formed back in February 2022 had all but fizzled out.

“Super Tiger” had initially debuted with original members including Joey Law (羅天宇), Lincoln Hui (許俊豪), Adrien Yau (丘梓謙), Anthony Chow (鄒兆霆), Randal Tsang (曾展望), Kris Lam (林俊其), Paco Ngai (魏柏豪), Eden Lau (劉展霆), Marktwo Lee (李紹堅) and Ken Sung (宋懿芳).

By May that same year, Joey, Anthony, Randal, Kris, Paco and Marktwo left. The new version “Super Tiger 2.0” saw old faces Lincoln, Adrien, Ken and Eden – paired with new members including former BOP team leader Gordon (葉泓聲), Andy Lin (林子超) who has a role in TVB’s own long-running sitcom Come Home Love: Lo & Behold and Terrence Siu (邵展鵬).
