Greta Gerwig added to the Barbie vibes of tonight’s Saturday Night Live, making a surprise appearance to introduce musical guest Billie Eilish alongside host Kate McKinnon. Eilish performed “What Was I Made For?” a song from the Barbie soundtrack.
Barbie co-writer/director Gerwig and the film’s co-star McKinnon, who are old college friends, appeared on screen embracing each other to present Eilish.
In Eilish’s performance, a montage of home videos and unseen photos of past and present female cast members appeared. The tribute came as an ode to the emotional scene in the Barbie film where Eilish’s song appears.

Eilish is no stranger to SNL; this appearance is her third sting on the NBC late-night show. In 2021, the Oscar and Grammy award winner performed double duty as host and musical guest.
