With luthiers who are experts in the field of vintage instruments, Tel Aviv, Israel-based B&G Guitars has carved out a space in the market for players inspired by classic acoustics and electrics. Each design is a handmade creation, and the result of extensive research into what made models from the early 1920s to the mid 1950s timeless classics.
The company may have surpassed even its own high standards with its newest design, the B&G Orchestra Model – the “ultimate homage” to the legendary OM.
The premium acoustic fuses tradition and innovation, taking the iconic OM design to unparalleled heights, with sublime tonal balance and playability. As for how B&G achieves this? For starters, with an Adirondack spruce top – the go-to wood for coveted pre-war acoustics. In a thoughtful touch for tone-hounds, this top can be paired with a variety of back and sides, including Indian Rosewood, Madagascar Rosewood, Honduran Mahogany, Quilted Mahogany and Ziricote – whatever best matches the player’s unique tonal preferences and style. There’s also a genuine mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint, and an ebony fingerboard coupled with stunning abalone inlays, a visual nod to the high-end acoustics of the ‘30s and ‘40s.

Elsewhere, the Orchestra Model boasts a B&G modified scalloped X-brace pattern for enhanced tonal response, a double-action truss rod for optimal stability and torrified figured maple bindings for additional eye-catching appeal. Other features include B&G/Gotoh Gold tuners, a bone nut, a TUSQ saddle, a tortoise pickguard and an abalone rosette inlay.
With its comfortable size, resonant sound and balanced and clear voice, the OM has long been beloved by fingerstyle players and strummers alike. B&G’s Orchestra Model continues this cherished acoustic tradition, while adding in the company’s unique touches and features. The result is a classic, interpreted with B&G sensibilities.
