Jason Blum’s Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster production companies have completed their merger – over a year after the first news of their advanced talks to merge was reported back in November 2022.
Blum announced the finalisation of the company’s merger today on social media, saying: “Our deal is …. Done. @blumhouse and #AtomicMonster have officially joined forces. The preeminent homes for horror are now under one roof.”
The posting included a reel of their projects, bringing together Blumhouse’s horror franchises like “Paranormal Activity,” “The Purge,” and “Halloween” with Atomic Monster’s “The Conjuring,” “Insidious” and “Saw”.
The completed merger also comes just days ahead of the release of Blumhouse’s supernatural horror feature “Night Swim” starring Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon, with Universal opening the film on Friday.
The companies will continue to operate as separate labels, with each maintaining its own creative autonomy and brand identity. However, the alliance is expected to increase their combined output.
In addition, Atomic Monster, having finished its deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, will benefit from a first-look deal with Universal Pictures which Blumhouse currently holds.
