Out promoting his acclaimed new Showtime limited series “Fellow Travelers,” actor Matt Bomer says there is “very legitimate talk” about a revival of fellow ‘blue skies’ drama “White Collar”.
Speaking with TV Line, he goes on to explain: “There has been talk. It’s actually very legitimate talk, it’s in conversation… a lot of things need to fall into place, but there is a plan in effect, at least, so we’ll see what happens.”
“White Collar” aired for six seasons from 2009–2014 and followed charming con man Neal Caffrey (Bomer), who was paired with FBI Special Agent in Charge Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) as a criminal informant. In addition to Garson, the cast also included Tiffani Thiessen, Marsha Thomason, Sharif Atkins, Hilarie Burton and two late talents Willie Garson and Diahann Carroll.
The series ran for six seasons beginning in 2009 and was one of USA Network’s key ‘blue sky shows’ – lighthearted and breezy yet smart action or drama procedurals that often (but not necessarily) take place in sunny locales.
Other blue sky shows included “Burn Notice,” “Suits,” “Covert Affairs,” “Psych” and “Royal Pains”. Several years ago, series creator Jeff Eastin teased a potential plan for a “White Collar” revival that was then halted by the pandemic.
In the time since, “Psych” has returned as telemovies, “Monk” is about to come back as a streaming film, and old episodes of “Suits” has dominated the streaming characters this Summer via Netflix.
