Jamie Lynn Spears had a special guest in the “Dancing With the Stars” audience Tuesday night: her mother, Lynne Spears.
Lynne, who is also mom to pop star Britney Spears, was spotted cheering on her youngest daughter as the actress made her ballroom debut with pro partner Alan Bersten during the Season 32 premiere.
“I need to do something that I would normally never do,” Jamie Lynn said in a pre-taped interview package that aired ahead of performance.
The “Zoey 101” alum noted that she “grew up” doing traditional dance and cheerleading, but it came to a point where she never “wanted to be seen” doing either of the two again.
Jamie Lynn felt like now was the time to try again and just be “bad at it,” which Bersten has witnessed in rehearsals.
“It’s a lot of tough love,” she said of their partnership.

The dance duo performed a tango to “Don’t Call Me Up (Zac Samuel Remix)” by Mabel, receiving a combined total score of 15/30 from judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
The “Sweet Magnolias” star, 32, performed in a black-and-yellow ballroom gown with matching accessories and her new ballroom dance shoes.
“I think you’re better than you believe you are,” Hough said, with Inaba adding, “When you smile you light up the room … [I] want to see more of that.”

Ahead of show day, Jamie Lynn revealed via her Instagram Stories that she was already dealing with some pain from the long rehearsals – and admittedly “so nervous” about her dancing debut.
“Hashtag dancer lyfe,” she captioned a pic of herself icing her left foot.
She also expressed her excitement for the competition, writing, “HOLY CRAP, I’m gonna be dancing on LIVE television!!!! Tune into #DWTS [Tuesday] evening and DON’T FORGET to VOTE for me and my partner, Alan!!”

It’s unclear whether Britney tuned into the premiere to watch her sister hit the dance floor. The “Toxic” singer, 41, has yet to publicly acknowledge her sister’s casting amid their ongoing family feud.
As previously reported, “DWTS” dedicated one of its entire shows to the “Woman in Me” author in a special “Britney Night” tribute episode that aired amid the viral #FreeBritney movement in September 2021.
While the Grammy winner was still under her conservatorship at the time, sources told Page Six that she was made “aware” that it was happening.

The pop star’s conservatorship was terminated in November of that year, freeing her from the legal constraints put in place by her father, Jamie Spears, in 2008.
Insiders told Page Six last month that Britney is still not on good terms with her family – including her sister and mother – post-conservatorship.
“Dancing With the Stars,” co-hosted by Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, with episodes streaming on Hulu the following day.
