Danielle Brooks (“Peacemaker”) and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (“Lisey’s Story”) will join Jason Momoa in the cast of the “Minecraft” film adaptation at Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary.
With the actor’s strike over, production on the film is looking to get going in December in New Zealand. Post-strike scheduling has also reportedly seen some of the previous potential castings for the film having to pass on it.
Brooks will play the role of Dawn, while Hansen will play the role of Henry. Story details are under wraps and writing credits haven’t been finalised, though Jared Hess is directing the project.
The original “Minecraft” sandbox game was developed by Mojang Studios and released in 2011. It has since become the best-selling video game in history, with over 238 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players.
Players explore a blocky, procedurally generated, three-dimensional world with virtually infinite terrain and may discover and extract raw materials, craft tools and items, and build structures, earthworks, and machines.
Vertigo, Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft and On the Roam are all backing the project which will be produced by Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui and the late Jill Messick.
