CBS Reverses “SWAT” Cancellation… Again

CBS

CBS has once again saved its procedural series “S.W.A.T.” from certain death.

In early May last year, CBS opted to cancel the Shemar Moore-led series after six seasons – only to reverse that decision three days later and order a seventh and final season of thirteen episodes.

The show is now currently midway through airing that run and has performed well enough that the studio has renewed it for an eighth season.

Of note as well, there’s no indication on the press release that this will be a ‘final’ one for the show either which is averaging 6.1 million viewers in Live+7.

The order follows in the wake of a wave of renewals by the network which gave “FBI” a three-season order taking it through a ninth season, plus new single season renewals for the two “FBI” spin-offs, “NCIS” & “NCIS: Sydney,” “Tracker,” “Ghosts,” “Fire Country,” and “The Neighborhood”.

The fate of “NCIS: Hawai’i,” “The Equalizer,” “So Help Me Todd,” “CSI: Vegas” and “Elsbeth” are still unclear.
