Don’t mess with these stars, internet trolls! From shutting down body shamers to slamming anyone who dares question their talents, many celebs have chosen to engage in online battles head-on over the years.
The Kardashian-Jenner family, for instance, is extremely talented at the art of the internet clap back. In January 2020, Kim Kardashian defended herself after she was accused of not donating to the Australian bushfire relief efforts.
“Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything,” she wrote via Twitter at the time.
Her sister Khloé Kardashian stood by her side, writing, “We often bring attention to causes and ways you can donate. It’s our job to bring awareness to situations so we all can help as a human race.”
That wasn’t the first time — and most likely not the last time — Khloé came to her sister’s defense. The Good American cofounder has long supported her family against any trolls who come their way.
In 2014, the Revenge Body host slammed a social media user who criticized Kendall Jenner for wearing a sheer top on the runway at New York Fashion Week.
“She’s too dope for you 2 understand! Yall would trade places with her in a second. The hate is real! Lol bye haters! Basic bitches NOT wanted,” Khloé tweeted at the time.
The reality star knows how to come to her own defense, too. After an Instagram user commented on an August 2019 Instagram post that it looked like she was using her daughter, True, as an “accessory,” Khloé was quick to respond.
“Would you like a parent NOT to create memories and traditions with their child? Would you like someone else to watch my child and me to do these things on my own?” she wrote. “I am her mother and we will celebrate life together every day. True and I are creating magical memories TOGETHER FOREVER.”
The Real Housewives are another group with a lot of skill for slamming trolls. After Erika Jayne was mocked online for her casual appearance while pumping gas in June 2021, the star responded to the many social media messages she received.
“Goodnight Twitter, please be in full glam when pumping gas. Apparently it’s a big deal,” the “How Many F—ks?” singer tweeted.

Cardi B
The rapper was quick to defend her “Rumors” collaborator Lizzo after the “Truth Hurts” singer admitted the haters were getting the best of her.
“Rumors is doing great. Stop trying to say the song is flopping to dismiss a woman emotions on bullying [sic] or acting like they need sympathy,” Cardi stated via Twitter in August 2021, days after their collab was released. “The song is top 10 on all platforms. Body shaming and callin her mammy is mean & racist as f—k.”
Lizzo opened up in an emotional video about the online bullying she was subjected to amidst the release of her new single. In addition to body-shaming the plus-size singer, trolls also accused of being a “mammy” and making music just for white people’s entertainment.
“On the days when I should feel the happiest, it just … I feel so down,” the “Cuz I Love You” performer said while tearing up. “Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back. It’s like it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world, you’re still gonna have people who have something mean to say about you.”

Erika Jayne
After a social media user posted pics of Jayne looking more casual than normal while running errands and questioned the real meaning behind her toned-down look, the singer didn’t hold back.
“Goodnight Twitter, please be in full glam when pumping gas. Apparently it’s a big deal,” the reality star tweeted in June 2021.
The online comment came after Jayne and her estranged husband, Tom Girardi, were accused of stealing settlement funds intended for the families of victims killed in a 2018 plane crash.
While the Atlanta native previously denied having any knowledge of Girardi’s financial issues in clips from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, more questions arose after ABC News released The Housewife and the Hustler in June 2021. The documentary shared stories from Girardi’s former clients, who detailed how they were allegedly stolen from by the lawyer and his firm.
Jayne also tweeted a gif of herself from RHOBH to really get her point across.
“Go be offended at your own life,” she said in the animated post.
Following a temporary conservatorship was granted after his diagnosis of late-onset Alzheimer’s and dementia in March 2021, Girardi expressed an interest in ending his brother’s control of his daily activities and personal care during a virtual court hearing in June 2021.

Henry Cavill
The Man of Steel actor fired back at haters attacking his relationship with Natalie Viscuso in May 2021. “To you out there who are expressing your disdain and showing your displeasure through a surprising variety of ways, it’s time to stop,” he wrote via Instagram. “I know it can be fun to speculate, to gossip, and to dive into our own personal echo chambers on the internet, but your ‘passion’ is misplaced, and it causes harm to the people I care about most. Even your most conservative of negative assumptions about both my personal and professional life just aren’t true.”
The English actor added: “Let’s embrace this age of social enlightenment together and move forward with positivity. I am very happy in love, and in life. I’d be enormously grateful if you were happy with me. If you can’t bring yourself to be happy with me, then at the very least try to do yourself proud and be the best version of yourself.”

Katharine McPhee
The American Idol alum had a savage clap back in January 2020 when a commenter slammed her for her performance on her husband David Foster’s 2019 live concert album, An Intimate Evening With David Foster. McPhee sang “To Love You More,” a song the Grammy winner wrote for Celine Dion in 1993. “Dear @katharinemcphee don’t EVER sing ‘to love you more’!!!” the troll wrote on January 10. “The fact that @officialdfoster would let you butcher that song — a classic at that, WOW!” McPhee, who married Foster in June 2019, responded with a 9-second clip that showed her hitting a high note. “I’d like to see you try this, bitch,” she snapped back.

Allison Tolman
The Golden Globe nominee took an internet troll’s criticism in stride in January 2020. When a fan of the ABC drama Emergence tweeted, “Please get rid of the fat girl! She’s not even a good actress!!!!” Tolman replied with a joke: “I mean this is ridiculous— I’m obviously an extremely good actress.”

Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian clapped back via Twitter in January 2020 after being accused of not donating money to Australian bushfire relief efforts. “Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything,” she wrote. Her sister Khloé also addressed the backlash, writing, “We often bring attention to causes and ways you can donate. It’s our job to bring awareness to situations so we all can help as a human race.”
In April 2018, the reality star stood by her man when her then-husband, Kanye West, was scrutinized for sharing what some perceived to be bizarre posts on Twitter in regards to parting ways with business partners.
“To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this… your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary,” the KKW founder tweeted. “So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair.”
Calling the “Famous” rapper a “free thinker,” she added, “Mental Health is no joke and the media needs to stop spitting that out so casually. Bottom line.”

Britney Spears
The pop star clapped back at fans who claimed she no longer had control over her Instagram account in May 2019. “For those of you who don’t think I post my own videos, I did this video yesterday,” she said in a clip that showed her standing next to a rack of clothes. “So, you’re wrong, but I hope you like it.” The Grammy winner followed up with a video of herself dancing to Rihanna’s “Man Down” while showing off several different outfits.
Spears defended herself on Instagram again in December 2019. “I love sharing with you all … but it’s been hard to keep wanting to share because people say the meanest things,” she wrote at the time. “If you don’t like a post … just keep it to yourself and unfollow that person !!! There’s no reason to ever go out of your way to make mean comments and bully people.”

Dwyane Wade
After a troll mocked the former NBA player’s child Zaya for wearing fake nails in family photos in November 2019, Wade tweeted, “Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so i get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!” In a second tweet, he wrote that his “only goal” as a parent is to ensure “that my kids feel that i see them, love them and support them.”

Camila Morrone
Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, who is 20 years younger than the actor, hit back at commenters who criticized her for sharing a photo of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, who had a 25-year age gap, on Instagram in July 2019. “My God, people are so mean and, like, full of anger with people that they know nothing about,” she told viewers in an Instagram Story. “Uh, I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to, uh, live with a little less hatred and place their time and interest elsewhere. Because living without hatred feels pretty good.”

Chrissy Teigen
The Lip Sync Battle cohost spoke out in July 2019 after a photo of her wearing a swimsuit inspired a body-shaming meme. “I’ve had no ass forever,” she wrote in a series of tweets. “Is this new news to some of you? … F—kin lames wouldn’t be able to stop blabbering if I got my ass done either. bored as all hell, never can win!“

Sia
In July 2019, Sia denied claims that she wore blackface in a February 2011 performance at the Thebarton Theatre in Torrensville, South Australia. “For the swift fans trying to make out that I would ever do blackface please see this video,” she tweeted. “I was painting myself into the backdrop, it was a pre cursor to the wig.” The clip showed the “Chandelier” singer attached to what appeared to be a piece of cardboard.

Erika Jayne
The Pretty Mess author did not hesitate to put haters in their place after they came for her for sharing a nude photo of herself on Instagram in June 2019. “You sound threatened,” she told one, quipping to another, “You sound ashamed of your body. I’m not.” Her most vicious clapbacks came when commenters asked what her husband Thomas Girardi thought of the snap: “He thinks [it] great,” Jayne wrote. “Bet yours does too … don’t bother responding. Thanks.”

Amanda Stanton
The Bachelor in Paradise alum clapped back at body shamers who criticized her slim physique on a before-and-after workout post. “I do not have an eating disorder and am naturally skinny,” she wrote on Instagram Stories in December 2018. “I’ve gotten skinnier throughout the years since having kids. That happens sometimes as people age. Everyone has different body types and everyone is beautiful exactly the way they are. Our differences and flaws are what make us unique. If you see someone making an effort to be healthy and take care of themselves, why hate on that?”

The Southern Charm star hit back at Instagram commenters who said she looked pregnant in a Thanksgiving 2018 post. “No I have just gained weight,” she replied.

Kourtney Kardashian
The reality star shut down speculation she was expecting her fourth child after a video from Thanksgiving 2018 was posted that showed her holding her stomach in a mini-dress alongside ex Scott Disick. “No, but how good does my arm look in that last photo?” Kardashian responded to one commenter who asked if she was pregnant, in reference to a separate photo of the E! TV personality putting food on a plate.

John Legend
The “All of Me” crooner wasn’t going to stand for online bullies bashing Rita Ora for lip-synching during her performance at the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. When one commenter turned the lip-synching talk to Legend, he replied. “Fun fact. We all have to lip sync on this parade because the floats don’t have the capacity to handle the sound requirements for a live performance,” he wrote. “Hope y’all enjoyed it anyway. Know that if you come to my shows, the vocals are 100% live!”

Jessie J
The “Bang Bang” singer gave fans a piece of her mind over growing comparisons between her and boyfriend Channing Tatum’s estranged wife Jenna Dewan’s looks in November 2018. “There is a story I have seen be written over and over again in the past few weeks that talks about myself being directly compared to another beautiful woman regarding our looks and people picking who they think is prettier,” she wrote on Instagram. “I have continuously tried to find something positive from this article … I am yet to … Who feels good from this story? I know I don’t … Is picking who is prettier and then continuing to say why a good activity for women to participate in? No … I am so disappointed and embarrassed that my name is even involved. It’s not something I stand for, at all. The musician also shared why the comments were so irksome. “I spent so much of my childhood trying to be comfortable in my skin just like so many other little girls,” she wrote. “I am a woman that supports ALL Women. I am a woman that loves ALL women and will not stand quietly when the media is teaching young girls to constantly compare who they think is prettier.”

Kelsea Ballerini
After the country singer stunned in a sparkly silver mini dress at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November 2018, she clapped back at an Instagram user who told her she needed to “lose some weight.” “Hi troll. listen. first of all, I’m not a model I’m a singer,” Ballerini replied. “Second of all, I’m not responding to this to give you attention because you don’t deserve that, I’m responding because I am a healthy, normal chick, which I pride myself on and work hard for, and want other young girls to see that and know that ‘skinny’ is not always the goal. And for you to think it’s okay to comment on my weight or size is disgusting. I’m going to get a burger now. Bye.”

Kelly Ripa
When an Instagram user commented in March 2018 that the LIVE With Kelly and Ryan cohost’s husband, Mark Consuelos, “tries to look taller” than his 5-foot-8 stature, Ripa clapped back, “He’s tall where it counts babe.” She also responded to trolls who accused her of having plastic surgery in August 2018, writing, “I’m gonna tell you right now. No nose job, and no veneers. I wouldn’t be sleeping in a retainer every night if I had. You guys do know how to make a girl feel special.”

Ariana Grande
The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer clapped back in May 2018 after a Twitter troll wrote that she “dumped” Mac Miller in May 2018 for Pete Davidson. “how absurd that you minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them,” she tweeted before referencing Miller’s recent DUI arrest. “I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming / blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his s–t together is a very major problem. let’s please stop doing that.”

Minka Kelly
Minka Kelly shut down rumors that her relationship with Jesse Williams ended the Grey’s Anatomy star’s five-year marriage to Aryn Drake-Lee. An Instagram user asked Kelly to clarify the reports on October 12, writing in an Instagram comment: “I hope the cheating rumors aren’t true. It would be disappointing.” The Friday Night Lights alum fired back: “They’re not. Hate for you to be disappointed. Glad I could clear that up for you. Now f–k off.”

Rihanna
RiRi’s revenge! After MTV tweeted about the “Monster” singer’s marijuana use at Coachella in April 2012, writing, “Yikes. @Rihanna’s marijuana photos from Coachella spark controversy,” Rihanna replied, “@MTV Yikes…. @rihanna ran out of f–ks to give.”

Iggy Azalea
A Fancy response! When Nicki Minaj’s loyal legions bashed the “Black Widow” emcee Iggy Azalea for hitting no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, she took to Twitter to fight back. “Don’t flex someone else’s achievements. Just remember while [you’re] all at home online cracking jokes about artists etc that most of you have done NOTHING. NOTHING! With your lives.”

Sarah Jessica Parker
Mama Bear’s not having it! The typically feud-free Sex and the City star had a rare moment of online anger in April 2014 when a woman questioned if she was the mother of her twins. She responded to the woman, who then deleted her tweets. Later talking to The Edit, Parker said, “I can’t figure out what she hated so much about me that she did that. And I just can’t imagine anything lower than that. I can’t stand [it] when women say unfriendly things to other women.”

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi
Say what?! After followers bashed Snooki for getting pregnant to “outshine” her bestie JWoww, the Jersey Shore alum took to her blog to set the record straight. “If you knew Jenni & I personally, you would know we always wanted to be pregnant together,” she wrote. “I love Jenni like my big sister, she is everything to me, not fame. I would never try to ‘outshine’ her and, like real women, we support each other and always want the best for each other, not beat each other down.”

Khloé Kardashian
Sisterly support! After critics bashed 18-year-old model Kendall Jenner for showing her nipples on the runway at New York Fashion Week in February 2014, her older half-sister Khloe Kardashian tweeted, “She’s too dope for you 2 understand! Yall would trade places with her in a second. The hate is real! Lol bye haters! Basic bitches NOT wanted.”

Kristin Cavallari
Oh no, they didn’t! The former reality star got attacked for posting a selfie on Instagram while her estranged-husband Jay Cutler was sustaining a serious injury on the field. “I tweeted that BEFORE he got hurt. I know it seems like I only respond to haters but they drive me crazy when they have NO clue what they are talking about.”

Gabourey Sidibe
Burn! After walking the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globes, the American Horror Story actress was subjected to cruel comments on her size. She, in turn, took to Twitter, saying, “To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I mos def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night.”
Credit: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images
Selena Gomez
When an Instagram follower told Selena Gomez she should “burn in hell with cancer,” the Disney alum responded, writing, “The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman. I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart. You won’t be winning anyone’s heart that way. Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more.”

Nikki Ferrell
Not her man! Juan Pablo Galavis was one of the more controversial Bachelors, so when he selected Nikki Ferrell to be his love, many warned the pediatric nurse to steer clear of him. “I think we like to complicate things when it is really quite simple; find what it is that makes you happy and who is it that makes you happy and you’re set. Promise,” which she posted with the caption, “Truer words have never been spoken. I create the definition of my own happiness. Full heart. Open mind.”

Zelda Williams
After the tragic loss of Robin Williams in August 2014, the late actor’s daughter Zelda Williams asked her fans to report Internet trolls who were posting unpleasant images to her Twitter page. “I’m sorry. I should’ve risen above. Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye.”

Ariana Grande
The “Problem” singer defended her half-brother, Big Brother star Frankie after a commenter called him “that homo.” “That ‘homo’ is the fiercest, most incredible, funniest, most intelligent, kind hearted and most LOVED person on the face of the planet! He also cleaned up his game and told the truth to everybody in the house WHICH by the way, nobody else on the show has done. so i don’t give a flying f–k if or when he comes home!!!”

Miley Cyrus
In defense of the twerk! The “We Can’t Stop” crooner got flack for her skin color after she made headlines for twerking all over the MTV VMAs stage in August 2013. “I know what color my skin is. You can stop with the friendly reminders bitch,” she wrote in response to an unknown follower.
