Taking place across both the indoor and outdoor space at the lifestyle hub and creative commercial space of Xintiandi, in collaboration with event partners Social Supply and The Bottle Project 瓶瓶有奇, Crush Wine Festival is back for the fifth year in a row.
Running from October 27-29, this year’s theme is ‘Uncorked Adventures: Exploring The Heart of Wine Culture.’
And the best part? It’s completely FREE to attend!
Who Can Attend?
Welcoming wine enthusiasts of all backgrounds – from professional wine experts to casual wine drinkers – the event will encourage wine exploration from vine to cellar, from Old World wines to New World wines, from time-honored classics to new-age natural wines, and everything in between.
Look forward to expanding your wine knowledge through guided tastings, winemaker meet-and-greets, wine-related interactive activities, and even wine personality tests – a true celebration of all things wine.
How is Crush Different Than Other Wine Festivals?
Unlike other wine festivals, the focus at Crush is all about wine education, interaction and sharing of ideas, diving deep into the world of both domestically produced Chinese wines as well as world-renowned international wine labels, with more than 200 unique varieties across more than 25 vendors.
Showcasing one of the widest varieties of wines that Shanghai has ever seen, guests will be able to taste wines from boutique wineries to well-known estates, from local winemakers to global producers.
What to Expect
The event will offer two wine bars – one showcasing the ever-expanding world of Chinese wines, curated by The Bottle Project 瓶瓶有奇, and the other focusing on international bottles, with representation from South African to France, from Australia to California… and more!
The Bottle Project will showcase the promising emergence of Chinese wines across numerous wine-producing regions, allowing them to take center stage at the event.
Attendees will have opportunities to meet the winemakers, learn about the winemaking process and taste and compare various vintages with other like-minded wine connoisseurs.
Expect to interact with brands like Runaway Cow, a Chinese winery lead by an up-and-coming young Chinese winemaker, along with Domaine Le Moodie and Tinyuu, to name a few.
Attendees can also join wine workshops like Lionel Le Gal’s Chinese Wine Journey, featuring six distinct labels of domestically produced wines, or Domaine Le Moodie’s Tasting and Meet the Winemaker event.
Max Bund from Fine Wines will lead a tasting tour of strong yet elegant wines and how to pair them with food, while The Bottle Project will host a Chinese Wine Tour ‘across China’ right here in Shanghai.
In additional to workshops, tastings and events, wine festival goers will have the opportunity to take home wine tools from merchandise vendors, including a chance to design their own wine bottle label.
MBTI – a customized digital survey, or wine ‘personality test’ – will also be on offer, allowing guests to discover their wine taste profile, based on sweetness, acidity, tannins, and flavor richness levels.
The test will match guests to wines they may enjoy that are available to sample at the festival through avatars that will help guide the wine experience.
More than just a tasting event, Crush Wine Festival is a celebration of connection between wine enthusiasts, regardless of background and previous wine experience.
Raise your glass as you mingle with fellow wine fans, toasting to the future of Chinese and international wine exploration.
