Nigerian music superstar Davido has been honoured by the city of Houston, Texas, with every July 7th annually to be celebrated as ‘Davido day’.
A proclamation signed by Sylvester Turner, the mayor of Houston has popped up on social media revealing this news.
Nigerian gossip blog GossipMillNaija shared the big news with the caption: “Jubilations all over the world as Houston Texas Declares Every 7th of July “World Davido Day”!!! Big Congrats to OBO!!! The number 1 artiste in Africa!!!”
Davido is currently in Houston, Texas where he performed a show last night.

Prior to the show, an American Twitter account posted: “Day in Houston 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽,” to which the singer replied: “Yes it is 🇺🇸🙏🏾”
Davido performed a massive show to a capacity crowd at Houston’s Toyota Centre the night of Friday, July 7th to mark Davido Day.
Previously, in 2018 in Minnesota, October 6th was announced as Wizkid day under Governor Mark Dayton.
Congrats to the Nigerian music stars reaching new heights.
