“Dexter” Prequel Series Sets Main Cast

Patrick Gibson (“Shadow and Bone”) has been cast as a young Dexter Morgan for the upcoming prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” (previously known as “Dexter: Origins”) for Paramount+ with Showtime.

Also onboard is Christian Slater as a younger version of his dad Harry Morgan; and Molly Brown as a younger version of his younger sister Debra.

The original eight-season long series starred Michael C. Hall as the police blood spatter analyst who moonlights as a serial killer. James Remar played his adoptive father and Jennifer Carpenter his sister.

Clyde Phillips will return as showrunner and executive producer of the ten-episode prequel series which begins 15 years before the events of the first season of “Dexter” – kicking off in 1991 Miami where Dexter is a student transitioning into a serial killer in training.

When his urges can no longer be ignored, he finds understanding in Harry who teaches Dexter a Code designed to both avoiding getting caught and help him find and kill people who deserve to die

At the same time the young Dexter begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. The series will be available from Paramount+ with Showtime.

Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, with Robert Lloyd Lewis all produce. “Heathers” director Michael Lehmann will serve as director.
