DJ Paul Honors Late Friend Gangsta Boo On First Anniversary Of Her Death

Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul began 2024 by honoring one of his fallen comrades. The 46-year-old rapper celebrated the life and legacy of Gangsta Boo on her first death anniversary.

The Memphis rapper took to Instagram on Monday (Jan. 1) to remember the “Mask 2 My Face” artist. He posted a graphic that had multiple photos of Boo edited together, one of whom had a halo around her head. Her record titled “Love Don’t Live (U Abandoned Me)” also played in the post’s background.

“1 Year Today & I Can Feel It!” he wrote in the caption. “Started Feeling it A Month Ago. Rest Queen, You’ve Worked Hard Enough #ripgangstaboo #longlivelola #mafia.” La Chat, a fellow Memphis rapper, also shared a post paying tribute to Boo and called out the person who gave her laced drugs. “One of da Saddesst days of my life!!” she wrote. “LongLiveGangstaboo FukDaDealer,UAKilla’ CowardAXXNicca.” Check out the posts below.

Gangsta Boo, real name Chantrelle Lola Mitchell, was found unresponsive in her mother’s Memphis residence on January 1, 2023. She was pronounced dead on the scene and later revealed to have fallen victim to an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and ethanol, otherwise known as alcohol. Boo was 43 years old at the time of her passing.

Reports stated that her brother, E Gutta, was with her on the evening that she passed, and also suffered from an overdose. Gutta was taken to the hospital and ended up surviving. In August, Three 6 Mafia member Crunchy Black shared a message from one of Gutta’s inmates who claimed that he sabotaged his sister out of anger for her never supporting him financially. Black suggested that Gutta ought to take his own life for what he allegedly did.

Gutta appeared on the Murder Master Music Show last month and addressed the claims leveled against him. “It’s crazy because that’s somebody I thought I knew, but I don’t know him no more,” he said about Black. “It’s a conspiracy, man! Dudes like that are beneath me. We don’t even discuss guys like that because they don’t hold no merit where I’m from. Dudes like that don’t even exist in the Mafia name. They been X’d out. We don’t even talk about guys like that. They don’t even matter. Dudes like that, we don’t even discuss.”
