Emily Ratajkowski is playing with proportions. On August 4, the 32-year-old model walked her dog in New York City wearing an ultra-short black minidress with her new favorite calf-high leather boots, skinny black sunglasses, and an unexpected throwback accessory.
With the continued resurgence of low-rise jeans comes the inevitable return of hip-hugging, low-hanging belts, but Ratajkowski really threw it back to the early aughts by draping her leather accouterment over the perfectly fitted LBD. Many belts of the Y2K era were infamously useless, doing less to hold up pants and more to highlight just how low you can go. Of course, the thick waist belt over dresses was also a popular, waist-synching look, but that’s a conversation for another paparazzi shot….
While these Y2K belts may not have served a practical purpose, they do allow the wearer to highlight or obscure certain features. In Ratajkowski’s case, her black leather belt featuring a large gold buckle both elongates her torso and creates the illusion that her dress is even more mini than its actual length.

Meanwhile, this is the second day in a row that Emily Ratajkowski has been spotted out and about in a pair of black calf-length leather boots, this time featuring a dainty kitten heel and slightly squared toe. On August 3, she and her fresh “glazed amber” hair were photographed in very similar footwear, which she paired with a white and brown patterned asymmetrical slip dress, gold hoops, and another pair of skinny shades. Unlike the above boots, these appear to feature a higher heel and visible silver zipper.
