GKIDS has announced that “End of Evangelion,” the 1997 follow-up feature to Hideaki Ano’s globe-conquering single season original anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion” will be available for the first time ever in select U.S. theaters on March 17th and March 20th.

Tickets are available now for the screening which will be in the acclaimed film’s original Japanese dub with English subtitles. The film essentially reimagines the divisive, trippy and abstract final two episodes of the original anime into a more epic scaled conclusion. The result has frequently been cited as one of the greatest animated films of all time.

That’s not the only film setting dates today. Amazon MGM Studios has set a limited release for the Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza-led comedy “My Old Ass” on August 2nd. The film launched at Sundance to rave reviews.

On streaming, Disney+ has set a March 1st premiere date for Sony’s Spider-Man universe feature “Morbius”. Netflix has set a March 15th launch for the Lindsay Lohan-led “Irish Wish”. Regular priced VOD rentals have also been set for “Anyone But You” on March 5th, American Fiction” on March 8th, and “The Iron Claw” on March 19th.

Finally, Max has announced two major recent titles coming to the SVOD service – “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will arrive on the platform on February 27th, whilst the Nic Cage-led “Dream Scenario” will commence March 15th.
